- Ok this is a weapon guide for all weapons.
All you need is 10 potions, 10 mega potions( if your defense is below 200), 5 psychoserum, 5 flash bombs and (optional) powercharm and armorcharm. Bombers are also welcome but only if you find it nessecary. Ok now to go attacking him, 1st, use the psycho and locate him. Once thats done, all you need to do is flash him once and that should be enough to do some rough pure damage. When fighting him, watch out for this poison spin. In my opinion, this is his most dangerous move as this is his deadlist combo. Poison+Confuse= death for newcomers. YianGaruga is basically a rathian(female wyvern). If you wish to capture him, bring 3 shock traps, 1 pitfall trap and 8 tranq bombs. The only thing is that once all the breakable parts are broken(head ears, wings and tail) that is the basic sign to show that he has received basic destruction and don't try to attack him when in rage mode. Its pure suicide. Ok and have fun killing this thing.

http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/file/monster_hunter_freedom_yian_garuga.txt (From Garugad)
Recommended Equipment list: -Armour: anything with half decent defence from Kut-Ku D to Rathalos, Ioprey is recommended, for poison skill and average defense. -Gun: preferably a light bowgun, OR a heavy bowgun with fast reload, but above all it must be able to take Clust level 2. like wolf/raven -do, for the first time I chose Blue Kut Ku Cannon.
This applies to almost any medium monsters, including garuga: the method of wyvern claw and small bone husk combo works with any bowgun that has over 150 damage works. I would strongly advise taking other bullets too, as after they run out, the garuga may still be alive, and if you wish to pursue him I'd advise taking high grade pellets, pierce or crags. The actual tactic is easy enough: kill all velociprey in area 2 with normals, equip level 2 clust, and wait for the garuga to appear. Once it does, hit it with a paintball, and run to the ledge. climb up, and open fire aim for it's back and head, easiest targets. As for the annoying vespoid, just run around on the ledge, and let the garuga's stray fireballs finish it off. WARNING: the garuga will a) flee to areas 10, 4, 2 and 3. Only area 4 and 2 have ledges. this is a problem, so take a light bowgun. and b) THE GARUGA WILL ONLY BE REPELLED, NOT KILLED by this tactic- it takes 3 to 4, preferably 5 repeats of the same quest with identical tactics. I strongly urge you to buy wyvern claw and small bone husk as often as you can in the largest possible quantities. good luck, hope it works out.
MHFU next:
Right, basically get battle armour or better, and bring paintballs, potions, mega potions etc (I can do with out them but for those who need them bring them). As for a weapon, take a longsword with ice/water atribute or just a good, sharp sword with high attack power. The line "blango decimator" is sufficient, however I would suggest getting a weapon with more attack power like "Eager Cleaver". The tactics itself are easy:
1. Run to area 2 in the jungle, just below area 10 (which you can't get to 'cos the pathway's flooded(I think)
2. Kill the Conga, Hermitaur and anything else there if the Garuga isn't there yet.
- NOTE* If this is the first time you're facing him, he's in the cave I dunno which area
3. Tag him with a paintball, roll to the side and unseath your longsword
4. Cut off his tail to avoid being poisoned. You WILL bounce off, unless you have white sharpness or ESP.
5. Then simply slash his head and spirit combo whenever you can.
RULE: NEVER ATTACK HIM IN RAGE MODE! UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH OR ARE SECONDS FROM FAILING
6. If you adhere to those tactics and rules, you ought to do fine :D
Bon Hunting
MHF2 below mmmmmmkay!
[edit] Yian garuga guide
(in the jungle)(MHF2) THIS IS FROM JoshisGone BTW gamefaq has nothin on this guide!
Armour: battle armour or better Weapon: i did it with longsword, blango decapitator or something along that line tactics: aim for the head, and spiritcombo when you can, just watch out for the charges, poison and rage mode. don't take bombs, they don't work in the rain. just get a longsword with ice attribute
Armour: anything will do heck i can do it naked although i dont =)
Weapon: Gunlance anything with 200 plus damage water attribute(optional) and decent green sharpness the sharper the better
Items: shock trap, tranq bombs, whetstone, potions etc. and stuff you wanna bring oh and power or mega juice if you have any
HERE WE GO the guide now is simple and short. Get the stuff you want from the supply box and head to area 2 and kill all the velociprey if he isn't there yet. NOTE: Must have full stamina bar drink 2 rations to do so or take a power or mega juice with you your going to shiled a bit. If he's there paint him and run to the big tree and hide by the cat sculpture and move as far back as possible and shield facing him. Don't forget to paint him now all you do is stab him (triangle) repeatedly while shielding> GUESS WHAT!!! he can't hit you with any physical attacks so no tails no pecks no charges nice eh?. It's a glitch mkay>? Now the only thing that's gonna affect you is the fireball and scream both blockable with shield so keep stabbing =D and if he leaves wait for him in area 2 if your lucky he'll come back if not then keep trying. And if he leaves limping chase him with a trap and some tranq bombs mkay and capture. If he goes to area 6 go too he might be sleeping which means capture is imminent GOOD LUCK OWN THAT FOOL FOR ME =P (comment by twits500, there is no Blango Decapitator!)
Hammer Guide
Hammers are not the easiest weapon to use against the garuga, the biggest reason is the constant roar. It helps to have a hearing protect but if you are like me, you don't. So given that you can constantly be stunned during frequent screams, this will make garuga not a favorite for a hammer hunter like myself. Typically the best way to use a hammer is like a kut-ku. Keep infront and off to a side, basically stay in reach to slam its head but at the same time don't let yourself get hit by constant sudden charges. As for the screams you'll have to hope they don't leave you prone to attack. You want to focus on the head to get ko's and break the beak and ears. When he decides to do the rathian tripple fireball i suggest dodging and waiting untill all 3 are fired off. Even though a fireball may miss angle wise being to close to the mouth period will be an auto hit by the ball. Fortuan 16:59, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Kill Garuga BowGun, No Damage taken
When fighting Yian Garuga in Jungle area, they're are safe spots in every place he retreats to. In area 3 there is a ledge that you can climb that has a small cave that leads to area 8. Climb on that ledge and go a few steps back. Yian Garuga will not be able to attack you with any attacks. This also opens the opportunity to get head shots, becase he will be charging at you in 1 spot. {when i do this strategy i always get Garuga ears} In area 4 there a safe spot too. The cave that you enter from are 3 to area 4 is one. Go a few steps back into the cave and you will be almost invinsible. The only attacks that can effect you are his fire attacks and his wind attacks. Do this also ables you to capture yian garuga. Bring sleep/paralis ammo. Wait for Garuga to be damaged very much (if in constant rage that may be a sign) and use your ammo on it. When it becomes paralized or falls a sleep, lay down a shock trap. When its in the shock trap use tranq bombs on it. Capturing it is rare but by doing this method its much much easier! happy hunting!
(jammer33man's capture guide) If you are wearing anything with autotracker skill(full hunter or full giaprey with 3 psychic jewels), you can just use the strategy above then wait for it to fly to area 6 (it will limp away and go to 6 when weak), then take a step back into area 8 and wait for it to sleep(its image in the map turns blue). Just run into area 6, lay a trap and tranq it! This can be used if you don't have para/sleep ammo.
If you wanna kill it, lay a Lg barrel bomb or 2 and a small barrel bomb(to detonate and for a little extra damage) while it is sleeping, if that doesn't kill it, hit it with pellet shots or explosive shots and it should go down.
[archer of pokkes guide MHF2] I did this quest using only hunters armor so i got the ESP like effect. as you know if you use a bow it is next to never deflected or block by enemy creatures [apart from whem a daimyo blocks] this negates the effect of haveing to buy a fancy sharp sword or anything expensive. always stay to the side of the head but just a little in case you have to dive out of the way if he charges or fireballs [infinte range] keep hitting him with arrows aim for the head as this does more damage and may break his ears [note: after these are broken sonic bombs dont work] make sure your stanima bar is at top lvl through eatting well done meat. capturing the garuga is hard so i would advise what jammer33mans guide says wait till hes asleep.
i did this quest with a kut ku stave 2 although a sonic bow will do better but be careful these cant use power coating so do less damage for the fifty shots you normally have. if u know his attacks you can killhim without taking any damage what so ever
[edit] GreatSword
First off, I recommend bring the ravager blade. Its +12 defense and 700-ish damage is great for bringing this purple monstrosity down. Items You Should Bring
- Potions and Mega Potions
- Ammo/Coatings/Whetstones
- Extra paint balls if necessary
- Flash Bombs
- Traps (ie Pitfall trap or Shock trap)
- Note that while in rage mode, the Yian Garuga is able to avoid your traps.
[edit] Basics
Hopefully, by the time you have reached Yian Garuga you have become a more experienced hunter. So you should already know that once you find the Yian Garuga you should paint ball it as soon as possible. One major disadvantage with the great sword is that it is very very slow. So make sure that you a) don't get greedy with your attacks (better one less attack then less health) and b)you attack fast and recover even faster! This means that you attack, roll, sheath, and wait for the next opening. This strategy can be modified depending on your skill level and allowed time to kill the monster. Also, note that the Yian Garuga have several breakable parts to it. There are its head, the claws on its wings, its back, and its is also possible to cut off its tail (which is carve-able).
[edit] Strategy
The great thing about the Yian Garuga its that its almost exactly alike the other two Yian monsters! So your basic Kut-Ku rules of fighting come into play, watch out for the tail, the fireballs, and its falling charge. The few new things you need to know about are that the fire balls this time around are actually flaming balls being hurled towards you, not a blob of flame looking stuff that the regular and Blue Kut-Ku's use. So wile watching out for the fire balls, also look out for the Gargua's flip attack. It flies into the air, and spins in a quick circle. It you have already cut off the tail, this move has no real importance. However, if the tail is still attached and you get caught in the attack you will not only take damage from the tail hitting you, but also from the poison you receive from the tail.
Realize that this guide is not a sure way to win, you may need to adapt it to your own fighting style or scenario. Good luck fellow hunter! Jackmac 04:30, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] LONG SWORD GUIDE
(made by REDWOLF262) please dont edit-make your own.
first this is what you must get:
weapon:devil slicer/blango decimator
armor: full kut ku armor
items: potions 10, mega potions 10, whetstones 10, paintballs 10, antidote at least 2
on the quest - there are several attacks where you can get in attacks at the head. once found mark it with the paintball and make combos of triangle - triangle, otherwise you will die fast. make sure your weapon is sheathed when it isnt being used so that you can run. make the combos on the side of the head whenever you get a chance. you must roll out of the way each time after the combo otherwise you'll take a lot of health. you can get many hits in at the fireball attack which gives you a chance to bring up your spirit bar. there are two chances to get the three combo spirit attack. 1. get UNDER it when it does the fireball attack then use the combo and run away. 2. follow it when it tries to ram you and when it stops do the combo, then run. dont attack the tail. if you run out of potions then use the bed,it works well.
rage mode is when you get the MOST ATTACKS IN - it uses fireball the most. DO NOT use spirit combo though 60% of all the attacks will be fireball. simply attack the head when it uses fireball as mentioned before. these steps will lead you to victory!
[edit] MHFU Garuga
The MHFU version of Yian Garuga is a force to be reckoned with! Just kidding, he is actually very simple. He is just like any other Garuga, except for the new attack he uses. He will lunge foward and pound his head into the ground once on his right, once on his left. I call it his Superpeck. I got caught in it once, and it sucked. Ok, here goes.
[edit] G Rank
The G Rank Garuga really is not as hard as it is said to be. This guide should help.
[edit] Preparation
Felyne Kitchen:
- Meat + Vegetable (Health +40 and Att Up Lg)
Comrade:
- Brave
- Mainly Weapon
- Water, Thunder, Dragon Element
- Poison Negate (Recommended)
Weapons and Armor:
- Any Hammer with over 1000 raw power points
- Full Ceanataur Z (with defence jewels for normal defence and 5 grinder jewels)
- Full Guardian Spirit Shin (with 5 grinder jewels and celebrity jewels)
[edit] The Hunt
Go about this fight as you would another Garuga, but watch out for his new Superpeck. Aim for his head and superpound when you can. When he is dazed and on the ground, triple pound his head. All parts on his head will break eventually, yielding more rewards. He will go into rage mode almost every time you effectively hit him. If you want to tranq him, do so.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
