Resource Map

Volcano is an area first introduced in Monster Hunter 3. Unlike other 3rd gen areas, the Volcano has remained simply "The Volcano" without any prefixes or name changes.

A volatile location; it begins with low, forested areas, before moving to the base of the volcano, where lava collides with water, creating a curtain of steam at the shoreline. In addition, this iteration of the Volcano zone differentiates itself from previous entries in that it has no dry, craggy, rocky areas, and the actual volcano is visible from camp, as opposed to ominous dark clouds in the distance. From the sea shore, the center volcano can be found, and finally the towering peak.

In Areas 5 to 10, Cool Drinks are required; in Areas 5, 6, and 8 Heat Cancel (Low), and in Areas 7, 9, and 10 Heat Cancel (High) can also be used to avoid health depletion from the extreme heat.

The mining nodes in Area 5 respawn every 4-5 minutes, in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, mining points are static spots like in previous games.

Secret Area[]

Volcano-secretarea

There is a mining site in the secret area where you can find rare ores or rust-/ancientshards, as well as a bug catching spot where you can obtain Rare Scarabs, Hercudrome and other bugs.

In order to definitely begin a quest here, you must activate the "Felyne Explorer" skill in the city. Otherwise you only have a 1% chance of beginning there. You can only start here on High-rank quests.

Notes[]

  • Behind the bed of the Base Camp is a map of the Monster Hunter world.
  • The third mining rock in Area 9 can only be mined 3 times, even with the Gathering +2 skill.
  • Blue colored mining spots have a much higher chance of giving rare drops, such as Adv Armor Spheres and Rustshards.
