First of all, let me state that the title is a bit of lie. This blog is for everything in Frontier up to 4.0 (inclusive). Get those commenting hats on!
Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth are introduced, along with the Sea of Trees. Of course, Hypnoc and Lavasioth later show up in Unite, so they already have their own MAD blogs. The Sea of Trees/Greatforest is also found in Unite (albeit with some minor changes, I believe).
Of course, what's Monster Hunter without Subspecies? Red Lavasioth and Bright Hypnoc were introduced some time after the 1.5 update.
Espinas introduced! The first Frontier exclusive monster that has in fact remained exclusive to Frontier. What do you make of him? I think his whole 'I'm not going to attack you, dammit' gimmick is at least pretty unique.
It's also worth noting at this point that the highest HR possible is 199.
What did I just say about Subspecies? Say hello to Espinas Subspecies.
Ah, now, Akura Vashimu! Certainly very unique-looking, and seems to be quite a unique fight as well. Plus lots of break-ables, different coloured blood... a pretty cool monster, right? Plus he even inflicts a new status, Crystallized!
Blimey, they laid the Subspecies on thick and fast in the early days of Frontier. Akura Jebia gets introduced to the Swamp at this point. Does he really do anything different?
Apparently something called Vs Quests were also introduced, whatever they are.
And, at last, 4.0. A big ol' update this time: the Gorge is introduced, first of all. I'll be interested to see what people think of this area; it certainly has a lot of interesting features to it. But is it varied enough?
And of course, what Frontier update is complete without a new monster? Berukyurosu certainly taught lots of new hunters painful lessons. Plus he's one of very, very few monsters in the entire MH series that only lives in one area, I believe.
- So, which is your favourite new monster of the bunch?
- Which is your favourite Subspecies?
- We'll cover the Great Forest in a different DotW because it eventually became available in a localised game, but what do you think of the Gorge?
