Salutations, greetings, and many great hellos!

February is coming up fast. It's probably my least favorite month of the year, not only because of the cold, but because of Valentine's Day. This year, instead of throwing my wonderful bachelor self a pity party, I thought it would be fun to celebrate OTHER couples - namely, the ones you can find in Monster Hunter!

Let's start with the most tragic couple. I don't know if there's ever been a quest where you had to hunt both Lunastra and Teostra in the same quest, so first of all, they've never been seen together. Monster Hunter 4 gave them another chance for a slightly better relationship, but then they went and excluded Lunastra while giving Teostra the green light. Then Monster Hunter 4 Ultimat…

    Greetings, and many great hellos!

As an avid bird fan, I can't help but love hunting those few monsters that put the "bird" in Bird Wyvern. Come, don't duck out! Let's take a look at our favorite feathery monsters... or are you too chicken?

Ostriches mixed with ducks, huh? That's the Gargwa in a nutshell - or eggshell, depending on whether or not you want the bird pun. While bigger birds are aggressive, the Gargwa is a peaceful forager that runs for the hills whenever trouble shows up. Chicken, indeed.

Ah yes, everyone's first true wyvern (unless you started on MH3 like I did). I've heard that he was a pain in the original MH, but Kut-Ku isn't too bad in MHFU, and I bet he isn't that bad in MH4U either. He has a simple moveset of pecking, cha…

    Greetings, and many great hellos!

We all remember the stunning locales that the world of Monster Hunter has to offer us - nature is quite beautiful, after all! But why should we ignore the hard efforts put in by civilization to give us awesome monster-slaying arena fights whenever we want them? That's right, this DotW is all about Arenas!

The original! Ah yes, all those arena hunts in MHFU were really fun. And then I decided to try that Nekoht dual Rajang quest... I have scars, my friends. Deep ones.

Oh, the memories of slaying Qurupecoes and Rathians with my friend on MH3! This arena was featured in the entirety of the 3rd generation, and it is by far my favorite arena of all. Why, might you ask?

THE MUSIC! Listen to it and groove!

    So far, the…

    Greetings, and many great hellos!

It's been a while since we did a DotW focusing on none other than one of the best parts of Monster Hunter - of course, the music! And because Monster Hunter Frontier G has some of the best music in the franchise, I thought I'd make these particular pieces the subject of our weekly discussion.

NOTE: I won't be posting EVERY music piece on this blog, just the ones I think are relevant or just plain enjoyable. Also, thank you to everyone on YouTube who posted these videos for me to use.

A slightly calming theme that plays when you first encounter the deadly Shanthien. In this phase, Shanthien is mostly calm and attacks with minor land-based moves, so you don't really have much to worry about.

    When the music picks…

Greetings, and many great hellos! I'm here with the next DotW blog, unfortunately pretty late in the week. Sorry about that.

With the announcement of a Western release of MH4U a while back, I thought I'd center this DotW on the awesome new monsters that we'll get to fight come 2015. And here they are!

Seltas is the first of the new bosses that can be fought in MH4. This Neopteron spearheads the comeback of these insect-like bosses - literally! Look at that canopy! While the original green one was impressive, with his amazing aeronautical prowess and maneuverability, his new subspecies seems to be substantially interesting as well. This bronze-colored insect burrows under the ground and has a prong-like double horn, but yet still flies. Does …
