Personally, I think it's great news. I had used Skype to voice chat during the online play of my Japanese copy, and it was really fun! It was quite an enjoyable hunting experience, despite previous beliefs. Now, I know many of you are going to be like, "Aww I don't want to hear annoying 14 year olds screaming and cursing blah blah blah." Well, the Japanese version had a blacklist where you can ignore a player in the chat log. I am almost certain this blacklist feature will mute their Wii Speak as well. Some Japanese "hunting teams" (I guess over here they'd be considered "Clans") also use some type of voice chat in an increasing effort to coordinate team work.
So don't knock voice chat in a Monster Hunter game before you even try it.
