I think my case is an unusual one. Apparently, I am confused about my culture and enjoy listening to music that hails from Japan. Unlike American bands, most, if not all, Japanese bands have personal blogs through which they share their hobbies. As a loyal fan, I make it a point to check the blogs of my favorite bands often to see what's up. One day, a member of my favorite band posted a picture on his blog of the MHP2 title screen. That was when I first saw it.
Once in a while the members would post screenshots of their hunters 1, 2, 3 and even a picture of them questing together 4. So I thought then "They must really love this game". I wasn't too interested until they actually publicized their love of Monster Hunter. During a web-broadcasted interview, one member brought his PSP to the studio and showed gameplay to the camera. 5 After that I decided to get a PSP and the first Monster Hunter game, only to quickly become addicted just like them.
At the present time, I'm only playing MHF because I am new the series. If you still play that game, my hunter's name is Kenzo (yes I have chosen a male hunter :P). I have WiFi Max and XLink Kai as Ranpos so if you want to quest with me, leave me a message.
At first, I used the Sword and Shield, because I thought that it would suit my rapid fighting preference. However, I found that taking down monsters was too difficult with it. So I switched to the Great Sword. It took a while to get used to, but I think it works better for me, even if it is slower than what I would like.
I'm definitely a hit and run kind of person. When my health gets really low, I run away and heal up. I use a Flash Bomb or something similar to hinder the monster to heal safely. I kind of run around the monster and pick the best opportunities to strike to avoid getting my ass whipped. Fights are slow this way, but it keeps me alive.
