The Ukanlos is an ice monster and opposite to Akantor. It flings up chunks of ice with its serrated Shovel-chin and can attack with an ice beam. It crushes through ice plates as it swims. Despite its specimen class, it does not have noticeable wings or vestigial webbings, differentiating it from other pseudowyverns.

- Most of its attacks are also used by Akantor.
- Melee fighters should not notice any real difference between fighting Akantor and Ukanlos, besides learning how to avoid his swim attack.
- The ice beam and shovel attacks are of no concern to melee fighters who are attacking the inside of his right leg; it will never hit that area.
- Its tail swing has an additional effect of giving the 'Snowman Status'.
- All Ukanlos weapons have extremely high raw damage, but -30% to -40% affinity and very poor Sharpness.
- After defeating it you are awarded the 'Ukanlos Bead' Award for your Guild Card.
- Throw a sonic bomb before its Ice Beam protrudes from its mouth and Ukanlos will drop a shiny. It will also stagger.
- It was first mentioned as a new monster was on March 26, 2008.
- The Ukanlos quest, "Absolute Zero", is the highest paid quest within the entire Monster Hunter Universe, paying up to 70000z (with contract fee).
- Defeating Ukanlos allows the creation of 'G Weapons'. These are improved versions of Low or High Rank weapons. Most are better than the original, but only a select few are better than their G-Rank equivalents (for example, Brunhild is better than Blushing Dame G).
- Defeating Ukanlos also allows you to upgrade your armors to an even further level than before. For example: Tigrex S default max level was 12, now it can be upgraded to level 23.
- Five Ukanlos Stones are needed for the full set of Ukanlos Armor (100 Base Defense per piece).
