Thunder Emperor Kirin are Special Species of Kirin introduced in Monster Hunter Explore.

Physiology[]

Its body structure and overall look is similar to the one of a normal Kirin. Thunder Emperor Kirin is bigger than its counterpart. Its body is colored with gradients of gold, its horn has a copper/red color and its mane has a pale grey and yellow gradient with a thunder pattern. Its surrounding aura is also golden.

Abilities[]

Thunder Emperor Kirin attacks are stronger than a normal Kirin’s. It can summon golden thunder, which could inflict Paralysis and Electric Shock Status Ailment, the reworked Thunderblight in Monster Hunter Explore, which prevents hunters from activating Weapon Arts. It has the ability to blink around the area. It can inflict Paralysis upon activating and ending the teleportation attack. It has a blinking dash attack, which deals damage to hunters along the path. As time passes, Thunder Emperor Kirin will further charge up its horn to the point of creating dark sparks. After it created dark thunder for 15 seconds, it will blink once more and summon an extra large thunder that inflicts Paralysis and Electric Shock Status Ailments.

General Notes


  • Like Frontier's HC Kirin, Thunder Emperor Kirin has the ability of teleporting with a lightning charge for a short distance
  • Thunder Emperor Kirin inherited regular Kirin's thunder attack patterns.
    • It can target a particular spot and summon a lighting that falls with some delay
    • It can summon multiple lightnings that shower its nearest surroundings in a wide range
    • It can summon lightnings when charging at hunters in a straight line.
  • Thunder Emperor's horn can be broken.
    • Once the horn is broken, it will only stay in default charged state.
    • Breaking the horn reduces the frequency of teleportation.
  • The quest begins with Thunder Emperor Kirin with a faint glow, some sparks on its horn and aura near its feet.
    • After roughly 35 seconds, it will blink and further charge up, making the glow on its horn brighter.
      • Another roughly 35 seconds later, it will blink once more and further charge up, creating dark sparks and dark orbs.
        • 15 seconds later, it will blink once more and unleash an extra large golden thunder, which reverts back to its default state.
  • Upon flinching Thunder Emperor Kirin, it will lose all charged visual effects including the aura and sparks.
    • It will resume the default charged state shortly after.
