Khezu Whelps are from the Dragon mining spot at the top of area 8. To get there, crawl through the small gap in the wall on the east side of the area, and work your way up. On your right will be a black hide, mine from it.

It is highly recommended to have at least 75 health before mining, or a lot of potions to consume. Make sure you bring some hot drinks with you, to slow the increased stamina loss, or a power/mega juice to stop it completely.

Another thing to consider is increasing your damage recovery speed via decorations or completing the Khezu armor set. +1 Damage Rec will stop all health lost from the Khezu Whelps draining effect (note that you'll need more than +1 to regain health already lost or lost while being hit while holding the whelp.)

You can only carry 1 Khezu Whelp at a time.

Alternatively, you can bring a farcaster with you, to immediately teleport you back to the home base upon mining the Khezu. I also recommend you bring 2 bomb materials and 2 exciteshrooms, and a combination book, so you can combine some more farcasters.

This will save you the tedious journeys back from the mining spot
