Silver Rathalos Topics:

Silver Rathalos is a Rare Species of the Rathalos introduced in Monster Hunter G.

MH4-Silver Rathalos Render 001

This rare subspecies features a shining silver carapace with black markings along the spine. He is slightly larger than the average Rathalos.

He will frequently barrage hunters with his triple fireball and skyclaw attacks. When on ground, he tends to use far more tail whips than bites and will charge hunters less frequently. The Silver Rathalos also appears to go into a state of rage more often than his red or blue counterparts.

The Silver Rathalos is much more dangerous than the common species. He prefers aerial attacks to ground-based ones.

He is rarely found in Swamp, Old Swamp, or Forest and Hills, but can most often be seen at the top of ancient Towers. The Hunters Guild goes out searching for Silver Rathalos in other lands so they can be hunted in special events, where they're placed in Arena and pitted against Hunters.

Other Non-Subspecies Forms

Hardcore (HC) Silver Rathalos

FrontierGen-HC Silver Rathalos Render 002

HC Silver Rathalos has enlarged spikes running along its spine, as well as larger and slightly discolored wing claws. Its tail spikes have a faint reddish hue.
In terms of behavior, it can now shoot five fireballs in very rapid succession whilst on the ground, as well 'charge up' a larger, slow-moving blast of fire. This explosive attack is often followed up with more fireballs. In addition, Silver Rathalos can now fly around any Hunters in a large circle pattern, shooting fireballs at them as it soars. Before landing after this attack, it can produce another slow-moving but large ball of flame; it will then swoop through and trigger the fiery orb to explode.

  • A unique trait of this monster is that its head is extremely weak to impact (Hammer, Hunting Horn), while its wings are very weak to slash (Greatsword, Longsword, Dual Sword, etc.).
  • Silver Rathalos' roar requires HG Earplugs to block.

  • It can be unlocked by killing a minimum of 30 Rathalos (subspecies do count).

  • Along with Gold Rathian, it can only be unlocked by killing 100 Wyverns, excluding Bird Wyverns, e.g. Kut-Ku, Gypceros, Velocidrome etc. This requirement is also the same in MHP3rd.

  • In Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, players can also unlock the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos by clearing Nekoht's 8* Quests.
  • His roar, unlike the original and Azure Rathalos, can only be blocked with the High Grade Earplug skill.
  • He will do the flying back fireball and also fly into the air to perform his single or triple blast.

  • Silver Rathalos' head is highly resistant to both cut and impact damage, unlike in previous appearances, in which its head was vulnerable to impact damage. It also requires white sharpness in order to avoid weapons bouncing off it.
  • When fatigued, Silver Rathalos will regain stamina by preying on Gargwa.
  • Silver Rathalos's back and head shine with luminosity.

  • The Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian are fought in the Tower. They can only be fought at Hunter Rank 8 or above, by unlocking the 7* Guild quests.
    • The Silver Rathalos' head is extremely tough, being impenetrable by even purple sharpness.
    • It gains a new attack in which it quickly launches a huge fireball at the ground which explodes in a large area of effect.
    • It can also perform its poison talon grab or its three-fireball shot multiple times before landing
    • When fatigued, there is nowhere for it to regain stamina, and so it will remain fatigued until it rages again.

  • His back can now be broken.
  • At G-rank it can now shoot a huge fireball at the ground which explodes in a large AoE after doing a talon attack.
  • When Silver Rathalos' head is broken, his head becomes a weakspot and weapons no longer bounce off his head, though his wings are still his weakest point.

  • HC Silver Rathalos' roar requires Super HG Earplugs to block.
