Silver Rathalos are a very rare species of the Rathalos, whose shells and scales have a shiny silver color. Aside from their rarity, Silver Rathalos are known for their immense strength and stamina.
He will frequently barrage hunters with his triple fireball and skyclaw attacks. When on ground, he tends to use far more tail whips than bites and will charge hunters less frequently. The Silver Rathalos also appears to go into a state of rage more often than his red or blue counterparts. Another point is also that it is more intelligent in terms of attacking than most other Rathalos.
The Silver Rathalos is much more dangerous than most usual standard Rathalos breeds. He prefers aerial attacks to ground based ones.
In nature, it's rarely found in Swamps or Forest and Hills, but can most often be seen at the top of ancient Towers. The Hunters Guild goes out searching for Silver Rathalos in other lands so they can be hunted in special events, where they're placed in Arena and pitted against Hunters.
In Monster Hunter Freedom 2, along with Gold Rathian, it can only be unlocked by killing 100 Wyverns, excluding Bird Wyverns, e.g. Kut Ku, Gypceros, Velocidrome etc. This requirement is also the same in MHP3rd.
Silver Rathalos' head is highly resistant to both slash and impact damage, unlike in previous appearances, in which its head was vulnerable to impact damage. It also requires white sharpness in order to avoid weapons bouncing off it.
When fatigued, Silver Rathalos will regain stamina by preying on Gargwa.
Silver Rathalos's back and head shine with luminosity.
In Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian are fought in the Tower. They can only be fought at Hunter Rank 8 or above, by unlocking the 7* Guild quests.
The Silver Rathalos' head is extremely tough, being impenetrable by even purple sharpness.
It gains a new attack in which it quickly launches a fireball at the ground which explodes in a large area of effect.
It can also perform its poison talon grab or its three-fireball shot multiple times before landing
When fatigued, there is nowhere for it to regain stamina, and so it will remain fatigued until it rages again.
His back can now be broken.
When Silver Rathalos' head is broken, his head becomes a weakspot and weapons no longer bounce off his head, though his wings are still his weakest point.
