It is best to wear full hermitaur armor since it provides a good defense against the water element and a thunder/water/ice based weapon. Just keep attacking his legs and knocking him over if you can. when he falls over, his defense drops and it makes it easier for you to hurt him more. Then when he gets back up, start dodging his attacks and continue to slash/shoot at his legs until he falls over again.

I used the SnS Deathprize to paralyze him, which can help ALOT. then he cant move or attack and his defense level drops by nearly 1/2 of what it was!

For a G Rank Shogun, I would suggest that you use full Narga S Armor and a powerful hammer (such as Juggernaut or Desert Cone) or a nice, electric longsword (such as Wailing Cleaver). The jewels I think work well include 5 Grinder Jewels (for Sharpening Skill Increase, allows for much faster sharpening), 1 Attack Jewel (Gets rid of the -10 att on Narga Armor), and 5 Psychic Jewels (For the Detect skill). The Skill should be as follows : Constitution +2 / Evade Distance Up / Sharpening Skill Increase / Detect. The only difference in the strength of the monster is,well, the strength! If you are fighting the Terra Shogun Ceanataur, watch out for the water jet attacks.

This is a guide intended to help slay the village 4 star shoguns since Commander in the Flames is required to get Absolute Power Urgent. Shogun is the opposite of Daimyo as it is suited for a near all-out offense.

• The best armor you have. It should have at least 40 defense per piece. For your weapon, bring Eager Cleaver.

Items:

• 10 Potions

• 10 Mega Potions

• 5 Cool Drinks

• 20 Whetstones

• Powercharm

• Armorcharm

• Well-Done Steaks

Now for the fight. Shogun starts in area 3, so head there. After the cutscene, immediately focus on his shell. This is easier said than done, as Shogun simply wants you in front of him. Why behind him? Because unlike Daimyo's shell, which could only be broken by the Hammer/Hunting Horn, Shogun's shell can be broken by anything. Plus, it completely breaks off. The first time it is broken, Shogun burrows to another area, where he gets a new shell. Breaking this shell renders him shell-less for the rest of his life. Once both shells are broken, focus on his claws. When one breaks, be warned, he enters a rage that will not end until he dies. His remaining claw with always be out. However, once it is broken, Shogun is quite weak, since his shell and claws are gone. Just focus on hitting him until he dies. You really have nothing to fear without his major defenses. Farm Shogun to make his armor, since it is one of the best at this point. Hope this helps! By the way, use some Defense Jewels on the armor to counter -20 Defense. Sephiroth Crescent
