- Order: Leviathan
- Suborder: Leviathan
- Infraorder: Fluff Wyvern
- Family: Royal
Inhabits the same areas as the common Ludroth, the Deserted Island and the Flooded Forest. Often seen in bodies of water, it can survive on land as well. Strangely unlike its relative these Royal Ludroths have been sighted in the Misty Peaks. As to why these Leviathans travel here is currently unknown.
Medium sized monster that hunt in packs, much like his cousin the Royal Ludroth. It is unknown why female Ludroth follow Purple Ludroth, possibly to mate. An interesting fact about the Purple Ludroth is that they travel to the Misty Peaks. They usually hunt Aptonoth and Kelbi in the Deserted Island, and Gargwa in the Misty Peaks. They will also prey on Wroggi and Great Wroggi. It competes with Great Jaggi, Rathian, Rathalos and many other predators. In order to warn competing and natural predators such as Lagiacrus and its two Subspecies these Royal Ludroth are bright pink/purple in color to show off their toxicity similar to that of a Poison Dart Frog.
The most notable difference between these and common Ludroth is their ability to store/produce poison in their body and spit it out at prey or foes. This poison can be seen with the naked eye in its iconic "mane", now a purple color, which is normally yellow. Much like the normal Royal Ludroth, it is an excellent swimmer and needs a close source of water to survive. Like their close relatives these predators have fused teeth perfect for crushing and slicing through armored prey along with unarmored animals.
Like their relatives the Purple Ludroth are highly territorial animals that will aggressively defend their harems from other predators and hunters. If spotted in the Leviathan's territory intruders will be viciously attacked until they leave or are killed by the aggressive predator.
