The Popo is a large wolly herbivore found in the Snowy Mountains. They are often hunted for their meat and tongue. "Popo Tongues" are account items in the game which will help you get extra money and Pokke Points when finishing a quest, although these tongues can only be obtained in the Quest and never kept to be taken back to the village. They are very docile creatures and will run when one of their members in a group is under attacked or when a Wyvern enters their area.

They are the main source of food for many predators, especially for Tigrex. During night, you can find Popos where Tigrex is.

Popo also appear in Monster Hunter 3, in the Arctic area. They appear virtually unchanged, and are still preyed on by many creatures, including Dos-Baggi and Ibirujo.

[edit] Trivia

  • It takes about 51 kicks and 2 minutes to kill an Elder Popo by just kicking it.
  • It is possible for you to be killed by one, but seeing as you're faster and stronger, you'll actually need to try and have them kill you.
