The Mosswine are moss-covered pigs that are frequently found in grassy areas. They are known to have a great appetite for mushrooms. Hunters and marketers commonly stalk them around to identify an area of Special Mushrooms.

Mosswine are docile by nature, but will attack if provoked by low-damaging gusts of wind and by kicking or taunting them. They are mostly hunted for their mushroom-tracking abilities and their meat. They are among the weakest creatures found in the Monster Hunter series and are killed by most weapons in a single strike. They are they second weakest monster in all times, compared to the Aptonoth, they have lower defense or health. There is a Mosswine Armor that can be made in MHF, MH2 and MHF2.

The Mosswine first appeared in Monster Hunter.

[edit] In Game

Hunters can carve mushrooms and meat from these swines. You can get a Special Mushroom by 80%. Some hunters find that the quest for killing mosswines in the arena are annoying since they appear by threes and are protected by Bullfangos. And since they only appear again when dead for 30 seconds, hunters will have to carve them to make it faster but then again, they might get tackeled by bullfangos right then.
