Elder Dragons are the toughest monsters encountered in the Monster Hunter universe.

Elder Dragons are strong, ferocious monsters, and they are known for their remarkable longevity. A hunter must be fully prepared to track an Elder Dragon through many regions. Elder Dragons may attempt to escape to another area when they are wounded and a certain amount of time has passed, meaning the hunter may have a long journey ahead of them.

Elder Dragons don't necessarily have to look like "normal" dragons. Some are classified as such because they do not fit into any other class of monster (i.e. Kirin, Yama Tsukami). Information on some of the Elder Dragons is given by the elderly man near the Training School entrance.

	MH3: Blazing black dragons, so named for resembling both lightning and darkness. They mercilessly tear apart whoever touches their sharp scales. Elementally unstable, their actions can affect the very weather. Living natural disasters.	First: (2010) Last: (2013)
Amatsumagatsuchi	Description	Appearances
	The final boss for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. It spends most of the time airborne, and is capable of unleashing devastating beams of concentrated wind and water. It seems to possess the ability to manipulate storms and wind, as it is surrounded by a hurricane wherever it goes.	First: (2010)
Ashen Lao-Shan Lung	Description	Appearances
	MHFU: A giant dragon few have seen and lived to tell the tale. When on the rampage it wreaks havoc on all in its path. The guild has built a fortress to repel the beast, but will it hold?	First: (2004) Last: (2009)
Ceadeus	Description	Appearances
	MH3: Legendary elder dragons known as both "shining giants of the depths" and "great sea dragons." Not confirmed to exist until recently. The Moga quakes were due to a Ceadeus butting its abnormally long horns into the earth.	First: (2010) Last: (2013)
Chameleos	Description	Appearances
	MHFU: Eyewitness sightings of this elder dragon are extremely rare due to its ability to literally vanish; however, details of this are unclear. It is thought that shocking it may make it reappear, but this is unproven. Also, using a smoke bomb reveals it's outline.	First: (2007) Last: (2009)
Crimson Fatalis	Description	Appearances
	Crimson Fatalis, also known as Red Fatalis, is a Black Fatalis whose shells and scales have become their reddish-crimson color after generations of exposure to the Volcano. Crimson Fatalis is the second of the Fatalis brethren and it lurks in the depths of the Volcanic Belt, where it lives as one with the environment.	First: (2006) Last: (2009)

Goldbeard Ceadeus	Description	Appearances
	MH3U: A rarely-seen subspecies of Ceadeus confirmed to exist deep within ocean ruins. The golden light they cast in the dark depths befits a creature of such legendary status. Sadly, little is known about their relationship to the standard Ceadeus.	First: (2013)
Hallowed Jhen Mohran	Description	Appearances
	MH3U: A subspecies of Jhen Mohran whose appearance has been likened to a crystal shimmering in the darkness. It inspires such awe and wonder that news of a sighting draws a stampede of hunters from across the land..	First: (2013)
Jhen Mohran	Description	Appearances
	MH3: Rare ore can be mined from these enormous dragons' backs; thus they are considered prosperity symbols. They swallow vast amounts of organic material and are always surrounded by scavenging Delex, which sailors use to locate them.	First: (2010) Last: (2013)
Kirin	Description	Appearances
	MHFU: The Kirin is said to glow a faint blue, but so few have seen it that details are scarce. It is apparently capable of calling forth lightning at will. Kirin material is very valuable.	First: (2004) Last: (2009)

	MHFU: A metal plated dragon known as the tempest of wind. Eyewitnesses report violent storms alongside the dragon, and its wide range means towns may be attacked.	First: (2007) Last: (2009)

Teostra	Description	Appearances
	MHFU: A brutal male elder dragon with breath of flame and expert control over fire. Its vile temperament means anyone who approaches is subject to fire and brimstone. Known to attack towns, the Guild keeps tabs on its movements.	First: (2007) Last: (2009)
White Fatalis	Description	Appearances
	White Fatalis is the third of the Fatalis brethren. Like Kirin, the coat of a White Fatalis produces a bright white aura. It has the ability to call forth red lightning storms. The White Fatalis has an organ that can produce an "electric ball" that can be shot out from its mouth.	First: (2009) Last: (2009)
Yama Tsukami	Description	Appearances
	MHFU: An Elder Dragon that floats through the sky. A bite of earth, a drink of forest, it’s a veritable god of the sky made of the richest soil. Ancient trees grow thick on its back like on a mountain. It’s rumored to live near a forlorn, remote tower.	First: (2006) Last: (2009)
