I am applying for the administrator position. I have a lot of experience editing Wikis and enforcing rules. I edit Wikipedia a lot, and when my kids were in elementary school, I spent a year working as a lunch/recess monitor. I have the confidence that I can handle the administrator position. Thank you for reading my request.
Not only do you lack and/or fail to meet any of the requirements, you have also been asking this same question on a number of Wikia sites. If you wish to
Become an administrator, then you'll have to actually contribute a lot instead of just asking around.
You wanna play the wiki game with the big boys? Well, it's like Caboose said - You gotta stick around for awhile, be a good team player with the staff, help out with whatever projects are going on, throw out helpful ideas for stuff, so on, so forth. Do that long enough, and you'll climb the wiki ladder~
Seems that bold, underlined DO NOT in "You DO NOT ask for the Administrator position in this wiki." wasn't enough.
If what you said about your edit skills is true then is good for you but you have to make thousand of edits, be collaborative with anyone here and be an active user (be active is where i'm failing in latest months)...
And speaking of ladders, start from the bottom, meet all the requitements to become and Adminstator with patientce and you will get what you want without asking it.
Hey there Kogath, Doug from FANDOM here! I wanted to stop in and ask if you were aware of the Monster Hunter World USA Championship event taking place on July 28th, 2018 in San Francisco, CA? This is the first US-based event of it's kind and involves teams of two completing set hunts as fast as possible!
FANDOM has been chatting with Capcom and they wanted to gauge if any admins on our site would be interested in taking part in the event! Could you see yourself attending this event? I've been told there is even a chance of Capcom paying for your travel to and from this event. In that case would you be interested? The winner will get to fly to Japan and compete in a tournament there!
Let me know! I've reached out to other US-based admins with the same offer to gauge interest. Alongside that, Could we possibly find a way to host this info on the wiki to help drive signups? I'm sure Capcom would appreciate that!
(In an unrelated note, I might be reaching out to you at some point soon about some wiki design changes ahead of the Monster Hunter World PC release. I'm gathering some data over the next few days but I wanted to give you a heads up beforehand!)
Do you know of a way to get the mobile browser view to work for my user sub-page? Mobile view works for most everything else on the site, just wondering if there's anything I can/need to do to get it to work on my specific page so I can mess around with mobile formatting and testing.
Yeah I've tried that, on desktop and mobile, and desktop emulating mobile even. I guess it's an issue on Wikia's side or something, I've done everything I can, clear cache, cookies, no extensions etc. Always redirects me to ?useskin=oasis
Not sure if you'll still come back to make edits, but I have request for you when you do. Regarding the Menu Buttons you've made for Monster Hunter Stories, do you think you can make more? I have no idea what font you used for those graphics... If possible, can you can change Monstie Skills to Monstie Genes instead? Make new ones for Weapon Skills, Rider Card, Poogies, Combination List, and Towers? That would cover everything in the game.
I was just passing through and noticed that the videos you have on the right column of the main page aren't actually working anymore. Do you have a sense of some up-to-date videos that would serve as good replacements? People do like to press working play buttons these days. :)
If you don't have time to find new videos, that's cool. Just give me a push in the direction of some good 2018 topics for videos and I'll have a good ferret around YouTube for 'em. Thanks!
Okay :) I replaced those three vids with three of the newest trailers from the official channel. You're right about the front page needed to probably refocus on MHW as opposed to MH4U. As you probably know, there are a number of vids about the various new weapons. Could make for a more focused, left column featured video area, were you so inclined. You've got a good Discussions area going; that could be surfaced, as well, since most of those discussions pertain to MHW.
Eh, listen to me. Thinkin' like a main page designer or something. Anyway, lots of avenues for you to think about as you consider how to redo your "lobby". :)
The discussions page has been getting a lot of new users, likley from the fandom app. While this is great, it's also bringing in increased amounts of spam, and we don't have any discussions moderstors to regulate content. While admins like yourself can, and do, clean up the pages, I think that having one or two dedicated discussions moderators present on the discussions themselves would be a good idea to not only ease the workload but to respond more quickly to matters that arise. I'd gladly volunteer for the position, as would a few other regular users.
Furthermore, I think that we should expand upon the community discussions guidelines. Currently, it only mentions leaks, hacks, datamining, etc., but it would be good to include policies for spam, low-effort posting, argumentative posting, and nsfw content, all of which is becoming an increasing concern with the surge of new users brought in by MH:W.
Thank you for your time, I look forward to your feedback!
A vote would be good. So long as the appointed mod(s) are active on the discussion board to remind newcomers of expected conduct and warn those who aren't following community guidelines, anybody would be a big help. It might sound stupid, but just having somebody around with a blue sticker next to their portrait is sometimes enough to make a difference, even if they're just talking.
Do you, by any chance, know how to go about adding features to the wiki? I'd like to get category filters set up in the discussions to help organise it, which is a feature that other wikis already use. I've asked fandom staff about it, but it's been a day and I still haven't heard anything.
We've identified the Barnos wiki (http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Barnospage) as popular enough page for a video. Our main concern is that it's lacking in the content department. I realize the game hasn't released yet so more info is sure to come soon. In case we might have missed something, we wanted to take a moment and involve the community to see if there's any information that they know of that hasn't been posted.
