Merphistophelin is a pale white Elder Dragon who's physical appearance is very similar to that of Fatalis. From it's head to it's tail rests a line of dark grey spines trailing off from being shortest on the tail to larger barbs along the back of it's neck. It's head shows to be more serpentine in appearance, sporting a prominent spike on it's chin. This dragon's wings are abnormal in their appearance, being almost devoid of any sort of membrane in between yet this beast some how retains the ability to fly. It's wing membrane appears when it enters one of its elemental states. On it's chest is an assortment of rib-cage like barbs that normally stay closed around its purple chest cavity. These barbs will spring open during either of it's states with the "core" in it changing to various colors depending on the state it's in.
This dragon bares the unique ability to switch between all 5 elements within Monster Hunter by entering a special elemental "state". Changing states also changes this dragons appearance allowing for an obvious visual display of what element it uses (orange for fire, reddish pink for dragon, yellow for lightning, blue for water, white for ice). While in either states it is capable of firing out which ever element it uses in a streamline plume of said element. Merphistophelin can also let out a violent roar, causing an AOE burst of any of the 5 elements it currently uses in either of these states. This dragon also has an awkward habit of what appears to be it "playing dead" as during it's fight it has a tendency to slump and fall flat on the ground when taking too much damage. Whether this is actually a tactic that it uses or the dragon suffering from too much damage is hard to say. Also when in it's "Water State" this dragon can afflict hunters with the "Silked" ailment should they get too close.
This Elder Dragon is very aggressive and territorial and will attack any and all trespassers in its territory. Merphistophelin can also become enraged as well during its fight when it needs to get serious.
