The Melynx are cat-like humanoids called Lynnians, with the ability to talk in human language and do human activities like their fellow lynnian subspecies called the Felynes. You may find them both in human villages (such as Pokke) working for their human masters or living in the wild with their fellow Lynnians.
Melynx in human villages sometimes take job opportunities, mostly as Felyne Chefs and/or Felyne Comrades. Felyne Chefs cook food for their customer to support them in their adventures by temporarily enhancing their abilities. Felyne Comrades assist their hunter masters throughout quests with skills to make hunting easier and gather more items than usual.
Wild Melynx come in groups when not in their village. They wait for hunters to come by their place and become a victim of their thievery. When Melynx spot a human victim in their area, they begin charging to them and steal items. Once they obtain an item, they run away and dig underground, never to be encountered again (but rarely replaced by other Melynx). When a Melynx has been defeated while holding a stolen item, the item can be taken back by their victim. The Melynx then digs underground, defeated. Some Melynx, when defeated, leave an sparkling item on the ground that can be picked up by the hunter. Their 'Secret Pouch' serves as an account item. Melynx keep their items inside their pouch and send their stolen items in their village. Hunters use a Felvine to distract Melynx due to their attraction to these plants. When you have it, Felvines are the first item to be stolen by them.
They live in harmony with the lighter-toned species of cat, the Felynes.
