- Every Monster from Monster Hunter G returns in this game.
- White Velociprey is changed to Giaprey.
- 23 new monsters are in the game; 9 Small monsters and 14 Large Monsters.
- 1 New Neopteron: Great Thunderbug.
- 2 New Herbivores: Popo and Anteka.
- 1 New Flying Wyvern: Remobra. (changed to Snake Wyvern in later games)
- 7 New Elder Dragons: Kushala Daora and Rusted Kushala Daora, the game's flagship monsters, Chameleos, Teostra, White Fatalis, Lunastra, the Offline end-game monster, and Yama Tsukami, the Online end-game monster.
- 2 New Monster Types are introduced in the game: Fanged Beast, and Carapaceons.
- 6 Fanged Beasts introduced are Conga, Blango, Bulldrome, Congalala, Blangonga and Rajang.
