MH3-Ludroth Icon

Aquatic female monsters. Ludroth form "harems" around large males, hence gathering in territories designated as breeding grounds. They are known to be extremely aggressive towards outsiders; caution is advised.

Taxonomy[]

  • Order: Leviathan
  • Suborder: Leviathan
  • Infraorder: Fluff Wyvern
  • Family: Royal

Small Leviathans that hunt in packs. Ludroth are almost always female, with the exception of young males, and their packs are commanded by a large male, known as Royal Ludroth.

Habitat Range[]

Ludroth inhabit places with large water sources like the Deserted Island, Flooded Forest and in rivers in the Misty Peaks.

Ecological niche[]

Ludroth have an ecological role similar to that of Bird Wyverns. Ludroth is an opportunistic omnivore, taking advantage of any available food source they can get. Ludroth will feed on Epioth, algae, fish, and many other types of food. Predators that would feed on Ludroth are Lagiacrus, Plesioth, and Gobul.

Biological Adaptions[]

A Ludroth's hide is highly resistant to water. The small spongy mane on their neck helps them keep moisture while on land.

Behavior[]

Ludroth can often be found swimming in the currents of the Deserted Island and Flooded Forest. They also appear on land in certain areas. Ludroth will leap out of the water to attack hunters hanging onto nearby ledges.
