Armor: Blango Armor (Low Rank Blademaster) with Ice Res(low); Quake Res; Snow Res and TerrainDmgInc(low) or Yian Garuga Armor (Low Rank Blademaster) with Sharp Sword and Reckless Abandon+1

Guide:

As everyone has a problem with Lao and he is an essential point of the game, I have decided to dedicate myself to helping you guys so, here:

By the way, if you're a Blademaster, this is the guide for you.

Start by getting yourself a decent armor such as Blangonga's full set of armor, it’s easy to get (unless you hate Blangongas) and has an average defense, 36 per piece, but I recommend that you improve it to 40 defense points per piece which is still not enough for new players but is the minimum for a comfortable fight. Other sets such as Garuga armor are also adequate.

Then as a weapon, I recommend 3 different weapons depending on your ability to get them.

  1. First, just collect a lot of ores and you'll be able to make the War Hammer (Hammer) and then improve it to War Hammer+, War Mace, Iron Striker, Anvil Hammer, and finally, Onslaught Hammer (Try to evolve if possible).
  2. Second, do the Iron Striker and then move to Gunhammer Prototype and then Dead Revolver (try to evolve if possible).
  3. Third, if you don’t like hammers and you keep repelling Lao, try getting Eternal Schism (Dual Blades) but I don't recommend them really that much and they don’t work with the guide ok?

The Items:

  • Bring as many Whetstones as you can, or if you're low on cash, get that Knife Mackerel fish from the old lady next to the Gathering Hall;
  • Bring 3 Large Barrel Bombs and 3 Small Barrel Bombs;
  • Bring 1 Farcaster (or 3 counting the combining stuff);
  • 10 Potions (just in case);
  • THE STUFF IN THE BOX;

The Real Thing:

Start by taking everything you need from the box (take your time he's slow), go to area 2 (where he appears) and wait, when he arrives just put the Supply Barrel Bombs where his face will be and when they're under his chin, place a Small Barrel Bomb at the side (hehehe) see his face explode and place 2 Large Barrel Bombs a bit further and repeat the process, do it one last time with the last Large Barrel and Small Barrel Bombs. Only then should you start hitting him and you will do it ON THE STOMACH with the Triple Triangle combo, after that you'll roll to his chest you'll wait for the stomach to arrive and you'll hit him again with the combo.

Repeat this over and over until you see a ramp's beginning at his chest's left (to your right), run up the ramp, sharpen your weapon, climb the stairs, and DON'T get in the middle of the bridge, wait for him to bite the air (where you would be if I hadn't warned you) and THEN run to the middle of the bridge, he'll get down and you'll wait until you see RIGHT UNDER YOU a large space between the spikes.... jump..... no, really, jump on to his back, carve his back twice, plant the Anti-Dragon Bombs and try to carve again....boom....

Get up, run to his stomach and start the hammering process until his stomach leaves the area. Don't panic, just roll to his side and use Farcaster. Remember to sharpen your weapon.

Go to the next area, hammer his head with Super Pounds (Charged R) until you see the stomach has entered the area. This area is the lamest and when you get to the part where he's breaking the gate apart, run past his tail (or if you want to, you can hammer his stomach a little more) and if the tail is going towards you, you’ve got to jump (normal X button jump).

The Next Area

Note: this area is the same (in shape) as the first one but without the bridge part ok?

The Near End

After escaping the tail (again), you’ll run as fast as possible to the camp zone, you’ll get the ballistae from the box (there are 9 in the box but you can get the rest in the gathering spot next to the cannon balls), get a Cannon S, and run with it to the final area. If the Iopreys bite you and the Cannon ball falls, just run to the last area.

The Grand Finale

Bring the ball to the cannon (if you have one) by standing right behind the cannon and looking towards the Lao and then you wait for the Lao to show his back (when it’s visible through the mist) and you’ll press O which will shoot the Cannon Ball. Run for the Ballista and start shooting him in the back. If you’re out of ballistae, wait for him to get REALLY close and then press O while standing in front of the red button between the cannons. This is the Dragonator and it is only usable from ten to ten minutes, ok?

If somehow he didn’t die, just start hammering his belly until he does.

Hope it works and good luck!

Armor: Any armor that has a defense over 40 and high wind resistance

Guide: Hello hunters of those who fight together or alone this is a guide about the monster Lao-Shan Lung but I will call it Lao for now. Monsters like this make very strong and powerful armor. So to hunt a Lao you must be prepared. Which is why I wrote this guide. First you need is items right well here is what you would need to take with you. Items help you in many ways. Well I bet you thought that was stupid what I just said didnt you . Well anyway here are some of the items

Items:

MHF1-Ashen Lao-Shan Lung Render 001

Lao- Shan Lung

Potionx10

Mega Potionx10

Whetstonex20

Mega Demondrugx5

Mega Armorskinx5(if you want)

Mega Juice

Small Barrel Bombx10

Large Barrel Bombx3

These are all the items you need but if you want you could add more to carry. Now the next thing is weapons. The main and important weapon of all is your head without it your dead. Ok let get to the real weapons now. Lao weakness are fire and dragon which means you need a long sword that has one of those elements. I will put it as equipments and I will choose the best weapons for you in the High Rank.

Equipments:

High Rank:

LaoBattleGuide

Lao Weakness Spots

Lion King Saber is what I suggest for the first time fightning or the weaker version Lion Dance Saber, both good fire element long swords

Black Scythe is not really good but its the only availiable dragon element long sword which is why I rather use a fire element long sword first

For armor I would use a Tigrex Arrmor Set

So since this is cleared I would tell you how to slay it or repel the Lao it kinda simple just hit his head until he flinch twice and then keep hitting his stomach with a spirit combo. Hope this help. Happy slaying.^_^

It's very easy to repel the Lao-Shan Lung with a light bowgun, just drink a demondrug or mega demondrug to make yourself a bit stronger and take a bow with pierce S lv1, lv2, lv3's and fire or dragon bullets.

If you use pierce S just make sure you shoot strait through its head so the bullet does maximum damage.

A bowgun with rapid fire pierce S and an armor S will make the pierce bullets stronger, just start with pierce S and when you run out of them just use your fire or dragon bullets and after thos use normal lv3's.

Once you do this you'll see its not that hard, but it is extremely hard to kill it with a lightbowgun, so if you need a guide to kill it go check out another one of our topics.

Guide to bowing Lao-Shan

Lao-Shan has an enormous amount of health, but it is extremily large making hitting it very easy.

Chart:

Monster hunter portable 2nd g cutting
  1. For Bows with the scatter effect in its final charges, it is much easier to get off shots at the belly where most melee weapons attack.
  2. For Bows with the rapid effects in their final charges, aim for the legs and when on higher platforms, the area of the back where a player places the anti dragon bombs is the weakest.
  3. For Bows with the piercing shots in its final charges, aim for the back and stomach. You may also try for the neck, as it may give more hits. Unlike both of the other shot types, peircing does multihit damage and you may use it further away and hit the back without standing on platforms.

Useful skills:

  • Quake resistance: against the feet you may get caught with the awful tail, if you have the higher quake resistance, you can have an easier time attacking more accuratily.
  • Quick charge: This allows you to get more shots off within the time limit, more shots more damage.
  • Evade distance up: this allows you to backstep enough to keep up with the lao shan's quicker walking (rage mode).
  • Capacity: This adds another charge to your bow, and those shots deal out a lot more damage than the other charges.

Items: Other than the basic requirements

  • Mega Juices: The bow uses a lot of stamina, imagine if that wasn't a factor during the fight...
  • Large barrel bombs: bombs' damages are like gunlance shells, they aren't effected by the defence, what if the lao shan had walked over them... a bow could hit both the legs, stomach, and upper body in one impact...

Notes and Farming help:

  • Rubies: Remember it is a two percent chance to get a ruby in the awards without breaking any parts, but each part is around 4%, not to mention you can carve 9 times...
  • The Face: This is not a weak part but it does break twice, don't be fooled because it roars a lot when you hit the face, it isn't a great place to hit!
  • The Feet: Not many people know this but the feet make the lao shan fall down, warning this hurt any friends attacking underneath it, but the bowman is ineffected...
  • Elements: The secondary elements are useless and have NO EFFECT, but the dragon element found in the white fatalis and akantor bows does a lot of damage as it has negative resistance to it. Lao also has no defence against fire, which could be exploited...
  • Affinity: Things like the Narga bow are extremily useful as the affinity makes up for the lack of an element, and may do even more damage than most elements with a critical shot, how ever the tigrex bow despite it's power can't be as effective as it would see because of its negative affinity.
