Weapon OverviewEdit

Insect Staff (操虫棍) is a new weapon introduced in Monster Hunter 4. This double-ended staff is capable of quick, fluid attacks (like the Longsword) and allows the hunter to jump at any time in a pole-vaulting fashion. It also is capable of summoning a Neopteron and using it to attack monsters. After locking on to a target using the projectiles that the staff can shoot, the user can freely send his or her Neopteron to attack the target and drain energy from it, then call it back after in order to boost the Hunter (in terms of attack, health, speed or defense). The Neopteron is always found at the right arm of the user if it isn't currently being used to attack.

TriviaEdit

• The Insect Staff can also shoot its blade like a projectile, as shown in the TGS video.
• The meter shows what stats are boosted.
• It can chain combos as quickly as the Longsword.
• It seems that each Insect Staff comes with its own unique insect. The (supposed) Khezu Staff shown in the February 2013 trailer has an insect that resembles a moth (see below).
