MHFG-Gorge Map

Gorge Map (MHFG)

The Gorge (JPN: 峡谷; KR: 협곡) is an area introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier Version 4.0, and was revealed on November 14th, 2008. It is home to deep trenches, underground lakes, volatile weather, and many exotic species such as Berukyurosu and Pariapuria; other large migratory monsters are often found here as well, such as Tigrex and the widely adaptive Rajang.

The area also features two types of cacti, which can have blue or red flowers and juice. If a hunter breaks any of these and obtains the juice, they will be given either a defense boost from blue flowers/juice or an attack boost from red ones.

At night, the land is drenched with heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Ecosystem[]

The Gorge features several dry areas surrounded by canyon walls, as well as caves containing underground lakes. A wide variety of monsters inhabit the areas, including: Flaming Espinas, Rajang, Tigrex, Dyuragaua, Pariapuria, Rathalos, Rathian, Unknown (Black Flying Wyvern), Yian Garuga and Berukyurosu.

The aggressive, cannibalistic Tricolored Eel (サンショウナギ), which seem to be Pariapuria's favorite food, can be fished out in the cave and at the river. Other unusual fish include Sogekisu (ソゲキス), which hunts by shooting its prey with water (much like real world archerfish), as well as Ancient Fish and Springnight Carp, which can also be found in Pokke Farm near the Snowy Mountains when breeding.

Obstacles[]

Unlike most areas in the series, the Gorge has unusual changes for each quest with breakable and invincible obstacles in the area. These include tall, extremely thick grass-like plants (only breakable via cutting damage), giant rib cages (only breakable via impact damage), strange stalagmites on the ground, and more.
