In-Game Information

Flightless bird wyverns with vestigial wings. They can often be found roaming wild in the Misty Peaks, but are also raised as livestock in Yukumo Village. Quite timid, Gargwa have been known to lay eggs when startled.

Taxonomy

  • Order: Saurischia
  • Suborder: Bird Feet
  • Infraorder: True Bird
  • Family: Round Bird

Gargwa are a Bird Wyvern species that has been treated argued to be put into the Herbivore classification.

Habitat Range

Gargwa are seen regularly in the Misty Peaks, Ancestral Steppe, Everwood, Jurassic Frontier, and Forest and Hills.

Ecological Niche

Gargwa are quite low in the food chain. They feed on a variety of fruits, insects, fish, and vegetation. Though they eat a variety of food items, their favorite prey is Thunderbugs. However, they are common prey for predators such as Great Jaggi, Tigrex, Gore Magala, Arzuros, Rathian, RathalosNargacuga, Zinogre, and Deviljho. People of the Yukumo Village use them as livestock and draft animals.

Biological Adaptations

Gargwa are covered in an array of colorful feathers. These feathers don't have much use but cover the Garwga for camouflage. A Gargwa's beak is made of an insulating material that prevents them from being shocked by their favorite prey, Thunderbugs. This makes them the natural predator of the Thunderbugs.

Behavior

Gargwa are docile among humans, though they will attack if harassed or cornered. If startled by a predator, Garwga will either leave behind droppings or lay an egg for protection.
