Here is what I think: You could have a long-ranged weapon combined with a sns like sword attached to the front. The sword moves would be wicked fast, but not do very much damage kinda like the ds and sns. You would also be able to shoot a bunch of the bowgun ammunition but not as much as a straight up bowgun. You could sever tails and do close range damage easily without having to roll or backstep out of the way if the monster gets close to you.
