Elder Dragon within the mist

Id be pretty cool to feel like you did when you first see Alatreon everytime with an intense -always a challenge- elder dragon fight. So first of all the map size would be about the same size as the Tundra map's (MH3) large middle area, and it would all be covered in thick mist/fog (about the same as a smokebomb), if this is already too hard of a battle in your mind then picture an aura around the dragon that pushes away the mist from it, so the battle would of course start by finding the dragon by blindly looking for a gap in the mist (which of course the dragon creates) and then killing it, simple enough. there is a limit to how much mist the dragon can erase and will be restored as the dragon constantly moves, this could be a challenge as it can move around and create a wall of mist between itself and the hunter and land an unexpected attack. whenever i think of this i think of a crossover between Alatreon's looks with Barioth/ Nargacuga like moves, hope you liked the idea, and i hope to see it come true.
This would make gunning/using a bow a nightmare, but cool idea nonetheless. Maybe add some kind of mist-clearing item to help alleiviate the visibility issue? Don Quixote 1:46, August 11, 2012 (EDT)
Eh, paintballs and the minimap would probably render the mist thing completely irrelevant. I suppose it could be cool if it was part of a monster's rage mode or something, but having to find you quarry from within a thick fog at all times would probably be more annoying than anything else. Don Quixote here, having login issues, just discovered Raviente Subspecies uses this as an attack, so yeah...

There could be high ground that gunners could climb up on in order to see over the mist (like the ledge's in Alatreon's lair). And I think it would still be challenging even with paintballs, especially if it has ranged attacks. It could have a move that washes off the paint that it does every once in a while. You would just have to balance challenge with fun so it doesn't become a pain in the ass or a pointless gimmick. One way is to have distinct audio clues for ranged attacks from the mist, so you can try to dodge or block it. You could even get away with completely shrouding it if you made it a slow but hard hitting hulk instead of a viscious speedster like Alatreon can be. I'm also imagining a move where it blows a stream of mist in your face, which would do no da,age but push you way back. You could also do it as an underwater monster with bubbles or murky water. 173.72.25.189 18:26, November 21, 2012 (UTC)Anon
