In-Game Information

MHO-Estrellian Icon

Estrellian is a ??? recently discovered by the Guild. It was put into this class due to them not being able to identify what classification it is. However, it has been recently discovered that Estrellian are the juvenile form of an unknown Elder Dragon. Its only known relative thus far is the Doom Estrellian.

Habitat Range

Estrellian have only been seen inhabiting Esther Lake and the Moonlands, however, it is likely they are appear in other environments. This is due to Estrellian having no fixed habitat. It is suggested by the Hunter's Guild that they appear in some environments that haven't seen been yet, including underground.

Ecological Niche

Estrellian are apex predators that have very little competition in their environment. Estrellian only have to compete with Yian Garuga and Gold Congalala in Esther Lake. In this area, they are able to hunt down prey such as Kelbi and Mosswine with ease. Within the Moonlands, ApcerosBullfangoCephalos and Genprey are the common source of food. Here Akura Vashimu and the Doom Estrellian are the main source of competition. The rare, large and carnivorous elder dragon Tartaronis can be a major threat to an Estrellian.

Biological Adaptions

Estrellian get their title, Star Dragon, from their feather-like scales. These feather-like scales are usually hidden away by Estrellian until they become more and more active as they hunt down prey. To help them hunt more efficiently and become more active, Estrellian have an unusual relationship with insects known as Star Butterflies. These insects are attracted to Estrellian for unknown reasons. It is theorized that the Star Butterflies are attracted to a sound that can't be heard by normal ears, pheromones Estrellian produces, or the unique energy inside of Estrellian. Estrellian can manipulate the Star Butterflies to act as armor to protect themselves from some attacks, swarm around prey, and even manipulate them to explode on impact to deal heavy damage to prey. An Estrellian's primary use for the Star Butterflies is to increase its own strength, agility, and activities in order to better allow it to hunt. To do so Estrellian will gather the insects to charge themselves up with the energy from them. This is very similar to how Zinogre use Thunderbugs to charge themselves up. Like Shagaru Magala, Estrellian spreads some type of virus around that infects other monsters and even doesn't have a gender.

Estrellian aren't very territorial monsters until fully charged by the Star Butterflies. Once fully charged, Estrellian are extremely aggressive. Though aggressive, Estrellian only come out of hiding during certain seasons to go to random environments. Thus far it is unknown why.
