Dragon
From Monster Hunter Wiki
Dragons are fierce creatures, in Monster Hunter they are only available to hunt after completing a substantial amount of the game.
A dragon is distinctive from a wyvern namely because of its four legs; they also tend to be stronger, possessing higher stamina and health than most other creatures. Although most dragons fly (with their wings being separate limbs), a notable exception is Lao Shan Lung, a dragon of titanic proportions that advances slowly on its four legs.
If, unusually, should a dragon be in serious danger, it is more likely to flee for its life rather than face death, and so in Monster Hunter some dragon hunts will force the player to fight the creature in a limited space of time, if not enough damage is inflicted before the end the dragon will flee the scene. Although the hunters will be victorious, they will be unable to carve their prize, though getting a substantially greater reward.
The most notable dragons in the Monster Hunter Franchise are:
- Fatalis: A famous, large, black dragon with an enormous wingspan and expert control over the Dragon element.
- Crimson Fatalis: Similar to its black cousin but a very dark red hue. Crimson Fatalis is much stronger than Fatalis, being able to knock out a hunter with a single blow.
- White Fatalis: A brilliant white Fatalis with an enormously powerful control of Thunder. Its chest becomes red when in rage mode.
- Lao Shan Lung: A titanic dragon with devolved wings on its forelegs. Known to attack towns, the Guild keeps tabs on its movements.
- Teostra and Lunastra: Male and female Elder Dragons. Teostra is a brownish red with Lunastra a deep blue. Both dragons are extremely aggressive and brutal. They are the only dragons to be able to use their flame sacs to produce a fire-breathing effect, rather than just a beam or fireball.
- Chameleos: An odd-looking Elder Dragon with the ability to produce a cloaking effect around its own body, rendering it invisible.
- Kushala Daora: An Elder Dragon with the power to control the weather. Surrounded by a shield of wind, hunters find it difficult to approach the dragon.
