Guides for Diablos:
Ridleybear379 says: Unless you need a horn I recommend you don't cut them off because then it cant get stuck in the wall which allows you extra hits to its tail/body. I don't know if cutting one horn of reduces the time it is stuck in the wall, but if it makes no difference then take a horn off. (but only only one horn!)

Four horns quest guide
Im sorry for the Gunners that are struggling on this quest, as any sword master. But the easiest way to kill both Diablos, is.... TADAAAA! use a Great Sword!
the great sword I used was the Sentoryu Raven (garuga wing x2, garuga shell x3, garuga tail x2, giant bone x2).
You should bring: Sm., Bg, Bounce, and plus bombs, 10 potions, 10 mega-potions, 8 sonic bombs, flash 5, 3 hot drinks, 5 whetstones.
You can optionaly bring: Farcaster, power and armor talon or charms, herbs, blue mushrooms, honey, psychoserum, ect...
The great swords trick is that its does great damage an can protect you. This is all, hope it helps. This information was given by a friend, and works. Luck

GUNNER GUIDE BY DEMI-GOD
For diablos the recommended attack is that either you rapid fire it's tail with Freeze S Bullets or spray it with pellet bullets. The latter is much more effective however, it limits the attack of your comrades since it affects them as well. the limitation in using a bow gun is that you couldn't cut-off it's tail. I tried using a Boomerang as suomeother forum "claims" it maybe used by gun weilders. however it proved to me an urban legend. It inflicts too little damage and it's trajectory is uncontrollable and it usually breaks easily.
The strategy of any Weapon with the Diablos (or the like) is that you wait for it to dig down the earth unitl not even the tail appears. Then throw a Sonic bomb exactly at the spot where it dove. For a couple of second it will be stuck in the ground where you can inflict much damage. Flash bomb also works but it will cause it to rage. So it advisable to use it only when the Monster is in rage mode. Shock trap also is effective in stopping the advance of the Diablos.

Hammer Guide By Fortuan
Hammers are a nice weapon against any monster but the inability to block is a hard challange for almost anyone. I recomend when using the hammer and Diablos that you obtain the Evasion Distance increase from jewels or armor. This allows you to get out of the way in a tight spot. While a diablos is stuck in a wall it is advantageous to most but for the hammer it will not give the opportunity to fully use the hammer as intended, KO. When the wyvern is stuck strike the tail for it is a critical for almost all weapons but do not forget the head, KO is much longer than a trip or getting the horn stuck.
I certainly recomend as many flash bombs as possible for using the hammer also. When he is "dizzied" from the bomb stay close to the head and attack full-out when possible. stay to the left of the wyvern to avoid being bitten and watch for the spin attack. Otherwise charge and bash the skull as much as possible to KO.

Longsword Guide By -NiteShadeX
Bring any good dragon or thunder lonsword, preferably with decent sharpness. As far as armor goes, High Grade Earplugs are a must, but Evade +2 will work if your timing is good. I use either Rathalos Soul or Tigrex (To track Diablos even when underground.)
Bring 10 potions, 10 Mega Potions, 10 sonic bombs (extra material to make more if you want) a flute, cold drinks and paints ofcourse.
Diablos is usually underground, so when you think you know what area he's in play the flute to draw him out. Paintball him immediately. Focus on using triangle attacks on his tail and rolling to avoid his hip-checks. Throw sonic bombs at Diablos only when he has dug underground and is not in rage mode. These give you a few second to attack the head or back.
Try to get Diablos to run into a wall right away and focus on his tail. After it comes off try to break 1 horn via getting him stuck on a wall and wailing on his face. Save the other horn until 2-3 rage modes later, as you can continue to attack him and get him stuck as long as one horn remains.
When attacking Diablos face and he starts to charge, roll toward him, it may sound crazy but more times than not you'll avoid the attack; it may take some practice and evade +2 definetly helps. When Diablos gives a deep growl and breathes dark smoke it may seem like a good time to attack, sheath your weapon and move out of the way. He does this when he enters rage mode and will often turn and either charge or hip check, both hurt alot.
When Diablos tail whips is a good time to attack his tail stub, simply wait just out of his range until he swipes in both directions then charge in for a few quick triangle attack hits, then roll to the opposite of the direct he's turning or roll under his legs.
Diablos' hip-check are one of his most powerful, and annoying attacks, if your toward his tail end, either roll to the righ/left away from the body. Alternatively you can try rolling toward him, in the hopes that he passes over you harmlessly as he hipchecks, again this takes a good deal of timing and will frustrate beginner hunters.
When fighting Diablos in the open avoid being at great distances, as he will usually use a faster-than-normal charge attack that can be hard to avoid, especially if your eating a potion or cold drink. Always heal and ready yourself in a different area.
Also, Diablos' roar acts as a sonic bomb and will cause Cephalos to surface, this angers them and they will begin attacking you, its very annoying, but I have been hit with their sand blast and saved from almost certain doom.
Anyways, after 4 or 5 range modes, diablos should be injured enough to capture. Pitfall traps do not work as he can dig right out of them. Shock traps can be problematic as well, if a burrowed Diablos passed under a shock trap, it will misfire and explode, rending it useless. Diablos also has a nasty habit of fleeing right as you place a trap.

Greatsword guide by Jammer33man
First off, You will need at least 200 defence for this guy. I recommend armors with Quick Eating or High-Grade Earplug. Use Ravager Blade+ or stronger, or any good dragon or thunder element greatsword. Before you fight him I strongly recommend going to the Felyne kitchen and getting meat + fruit (for Atk Up Lg), or a defence up combo (Veggies, fruits, not really sure). Bring 10 potions, 10 mega potions, Cool Drinks (optional), 10 Sonic Bombs (essential), 5 Flash Bombs (optional, makes it a lot easier though), Shock Trap (If you wanna capture him). If you want you can bring other healing items.
Battle time! When you start off, he will be in area 7 so head to the well behind you and drop down by pressing O, you will be in area 9. Once you find him, wait for it to do any attack (see the Diablos Attacks page before) and dodge it, then paintball him if you need to. His counterable attacks are his charge, his X-whip, and his taunt (when flashed). Keep your weapon sheathed, if it goes underground, sonic bomb him once his tail is underground for a free quick draw and triangle + O attack on his head OR run around the area he went underground in, when he comes out (he won't hit you if you kept circling his dig point), he will either turn toward you, scream (rarely), or do his X-whip (happens a lot). Stay close behind him but out of range of his tail when he X-whips, wait for him to whip twice then run in right after, charge yor GS... and when he turns to you he will try to charge, but you will hit him in the face with a level 3 charge attack if done right (he'll flinch), sometimes he will go underground while you are charging, just release it, roll, sheath, then run like a chicken. Next, if he does a charge, follow closely behind him then charge your GS when he stops, release it if you were too late ok? It's like hitting Tigrex but harder. If you notice him about to scream (again see Diablos Attacks), stop running, wait until you are standing still, then unsheath while holding R, you will Insta-guard if done quickly. If you brought flash bombs, use them whenever you need free hits, just make sure he sees the bang. Use quick draw and triangle + O attacks on his head when you bomb him, and use GS lvl 3 attacks only when he does the X-whip and charge (these only apply if you need horns). If you need the tail, you can hit it when you flash him, or when he stops his charge with a Horn attack (happens when you ar walking from his front to his back while he is about to charge). Again use the quick draw and tri + O combo on his tail. After 3-5 Rages, he will limp, just 2 more GS charges and he will die. You can also lay a shock trap (when he is underground, stay away from the trap or he might destroy it).
I hope you like my guide. It is my first guide and I would like to hear your comments. =)

(non costy) Dual Sword guide by Sam Quinto
When starting a quest, decent equipment is a must. Thus restrictions must be taken into account.
-Elemental weapons that are not of the ice or dragon property are restricted.
-Weapons that have short green sharpness are restricted.
-Armors that do not have at least 36lower/60upper/93G defense per piece are restricted.
But enough of that..... and on to the strategy.
Bring any non-restricted dual sword that you feel comfortable-with beating the beast so as to not limit you from having fun nor force you to spend too much. I recommend the use of armors such as Cenataur, Monobolos and Basarios when its your first time. Otherwise, do as you please as long as none of its attacks do-off with half your HP.
Items may have the ability to hasten a quest but it is always best to rely on one's own abilities and equipment first. Therefore, my strategy does not involve the use of too much items.
When in battle, the preemptive strike is the throwing of the paintball. Afterwards, roll in the middle of its legs and do as many demon dances as you can. Demon dances are your main attack here, since it involves your character to stay immobile. When the interval of your demon dance reaches the time wherein it prepares to bump... roll over to the opposite side to avoid the attack. Always choose to be at the back portion of its legs when demon dancing in a non-tail spin. When you get hit, heal properly and get back into position when you get a chance. Don't forget that when... the Diablos falls, aim for the tail. The tail must be cut as early as possible to reduce the radius of its tail spin. Remember, When the Diablos is at Maps Three and Seven, abuse the fact that its horns get stuck on the wall when it charges at you.
When you get opportunities like; when the Diablos is squirming on the ground due to pain, when it gets its horns stuck, when it get its tail cut and squirms, when it surfaces due to a sonic bomb or when its trapped.... be sure to have your health and sharpness updated before going for the kill. In any quest, one must choose to be safe rather than to commit rash acts.
If the reason you do not approve of my last phrase is due to "time issues". Only three probable reasons exist for issues involving time management. First, your equipment are to weak and you end up dealing insufficient damage. Second, you barely attack or you barely get the chance to attack due to your own mental incapabilities. Third, you are bad at dodging and get hit to much thus causing you to spend your time recovering rather than attacking.
If you claim that none of these reasons are the cause of your time issues, then you might as well sell your copy of the game because you are a time waster on quests.
[edit] MHFU Diablos
MHFU Diablos is not a pleasure to fight. Diablos fighting is not my forte, but I am not bad at it. A good thunder weapon is all it takes to defeat him. He has a new move in MHFU, though. He will step back , and then swing his whole body forward, lauching the hunter into the air. I have expierienced this attack firsthand, and I must say it is not fun to get hit with.
[edit] G Rank
Now, a G Rank Diablos is another story. They are very challenging to fight. You will need more than one thunder weapon to defeat him. The following is what you will need.

[edit] The Hunt
Ok, well, Diablos is a strong monster, but the surrounding area offers some advantages to aid you in your fight. You fight him in the Old Desert. He normally stays in the area that do not require cool drinks , but you will need them to get there. He normally circulates between areas 1 and 4. It is very convenient that these two areas have rocks that a Diablos can get its horns stuck in. Any hunter who does not take advantage of these geographical features needs to be hit. The best strategy is to get him stuck in the rocks, and hit his tail. Keep doing this until his his tail is cut off. Then get him stuck in the rocks constantly until you break his horns off. From that point onward, continuously hit his legs until he falls over. When he falls, attack his tail stub. Continually do this until he starts limping. Then, either trap and tranq him, or just kill him.
Hopefully this guide will help someone, so to whomever that may be, good luck and happy hunting!
