The Cephalos are younger forms of the sand living wyvern-like Piscines Cephadrome. These minions are surprisingly social, swimming and hunting in packs. They are predatory, and can work together to defeat creatures many times their size. Mildly aggressive, they can become a nuisance when fighting other monsters. The Guild rewards hunters who retrieve Piscine Livers from these monsters.

[edit] Facts

  • Cephalos are vulnerable to loud noises, and will emerge from the sand if a sonic bomb is used.
  • Though it takes precision and timing, a Hammer's Super Pound will disrupt their hearing as well.
  • Sometimes they will jump out of the sand if you attack their fins (while they are swimming toward you).
  • An emerged Cephalos can attack with hipchecks, tailswipes, and sand blasts.
  • While swimming in the sand, they will either dive at you or jump up and blast sand at you.
  • A good strategy to defeat this monster is to attack it while it is surfacing. This will flush it out and make it fight you on the surface.

[edit] Trivia

  • Strangely, Cephalos will occaisionaly attack Tigrex in preference to the Hunter, in a similar way to which Velociprey will attack a Rathian.
  • If you kill it while it is jumping back into the sand it will side flip
