An adolescent Carapaceon with an organic shell placed firmly on its back. Once grown, this shell will be replaced by a giant monster's skull. Mainly living in volcanoes, it is very aggressive, and should not be underestimated.

Ceanataur is a young Carapaceon that is the adolescent form of the Shogun Ceanataur. It is related to the Hermitaur and Daimyo Hermitaur,

Habitat Range

Ceanataur can be seen in great numbers in the Swamp, Volcano, and Dark Veil Forest.

Ecological Niche

While young, Ceanataur are quite low in the food chain. They are known to feed on smaller species and anything else they can get their claws on. Ceanataur will even attempt to feed humans. Predators include Lavasioth and Khezu.

Biological Adaptations

The Ceanataur has strong, sharp claws that resemble a Hermitaur's, however, should the Ceanataur grow into a Shogun Ceanataur, these claws will become scythe-like. They have underdeveloped shells that don't provide much protection but, strong legs to help them chase down prey at a rapid pace. Ceanataur can also spit poison at foes. However, they usualy lose this ability upon becoming Shogun Ceanataur but there are some exceptions.

Behavior

Ceanataur are very aggressive towards anything that threatens. They are well-known for chasing hunters down in order to attack them.
