Hello, and welcome to Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the G Fatalis Brethren!

Look at all the fireworks! G Fatalis is truly something from another world. It has all sorts of crazy attacks that you would never expect from a normal Fatalis, along with some aspects that could be considered bullshit. Though many see G Fatalis as a ridiculous mistake, I actually like it for that reason. It just goes against the usual norm for the Monster Hunter series.

G Crimson Fatalis is basically the devil incarnate. It lives inside active volcanoes, as well as manipulates the environment in order to finish off foes. During the fight, it is known to climb on the walls of the Deep Crater before performing one of its powerful attacks, such as breathin…

Hello, and welcome to Discussion of the Week!

This week we at the blind monsters of the Monster Hunter series!

Let's start with the original one, Khezu! Khezu lacks eyes, however, it has a good sense of smell compared to most other monsters. Though Khezu smells for its prey, some individuals are actually able to sense the vibrations of their prey. Back in older games, it was said that if you use a Dung Bomb on Khezu it would do something to it, but that was lie! It also just so happens to have one of the loudest roars in the series, which was basically instant death back in older games. In those games, Khezu would roar, stunning you, before getting back up and firing its electrical spits! That old combo was just evil!

    Zenith Khezu is one powerf…

Hello, and welcome to Discussion of the Week!

This week we talk about the pets in the Monster Hunter universe!

Easily the most iconic pet in the Monster Hunter series, our little Poogies have always been by our side since the original Monster Hunter and haven't missed single game yet! Whether we like them or not, they've always been "oinking" by our side, especially if we need someone to cuddle after failing a quest!

I wonder what they taste like? What? We can't eat Poogie? It's illegal and a Guild Knight will slice our head off if we try?!

That's right, Frontier has duckies! They look cute huh? Hunters can dress them up, pet, and even fire them for another one. Though Gu-Ku look innocent, they have been seen taking quest from the counter and di…

Hello, and to Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the Guild Quests!

If you fulfill certain conditions during an Expedition, such as slay the specified large monster, the Guild will give you clearance to take on special Quests. These are called Guild Quests, and they can be registered via the menu and then selected from the Gathering Hall's Quest Counter.

If you have received a Guild Quest from going on an Expedition, you will be notified after the Expedition ends.

Guild Quests must be registered before they can be undertaken. Select a Guild Quest from the Quest Pool and then register it. You can have up to 10 registered Quests at once.

Once a Guild Quest has been registered, you can undertake it via the Gathering Hall's Quest Counter.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the endings for all Monster Hunter games!

Lets start with the first generation! This ending was mostly credits, however, it felt right and quite normal at the time. It wasn't grand or weird like later ones, but it's to be expected since it was the first game in the series. After defeating Monoblos, this ending played!

Skip! Okay, this one is a bit more lame, but it could be worse.

    Same as above.

Jumbo Chief leaves to be a pioneer in search in of new lands, while he leaves Patty and his sister in charge of Jumbo Village. He now travels around the world in the search of new lands. I like this ending due to the hunter building up the Jumbo Village, as Jumbo Chief gains more confid…

Hello and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the Hunter Arts!

Hunter Arts (狩技) are big, dramatic moves that you can perform when you're out on a hunt. Hunter Arts include powerful attacks, powerful counter-attacks, and ways to heal yourself or other Hunters. Go to the Item Box in your house or in the Prep Area to equip Hunter Arts.

To be able to use a Hunter Art, you must first fill its Arts Gauge, which fills when you successfully land attacks on monsters. When the gauge is full, simply tap the icon on the Touch Screen, or press the appropriate button configuration.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at Frontier's Multiple Elements!

Lets start off with Blaze (Japanese 炎)! Blaze is a combination between the Fire Element (70%) and Dragon Element (70%), making it perfect for hunting some monsters that have parts weak to the two. Though it is a basic combination between these two elements, it is still a pretty interesting concept to say the least.

    • Guanzorumu
    • Teostra

Hello, and welcome to Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the online hunting halls of the 3rd and 4th Generation!

This one has really stuck with many new MH fans and I can see why! I may have started with Monster Hunter Freedom, but this was the first true Online City I've ever been in for the series! Though it hasn't returned in the series as of yet, I really do hope that we get another online city with more that we can do like special request or some thing. My favorite part about this city was day/night system and the sandstorms caused by Jhen Mohran, which made this place feel more organic!

Yukumo's Communal Bath was an interesting Guild Hall, mainly because of the hot spring. By using the hot spring, hunters could increase their sta…

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at some of the monster revamps in the Monster Hunter series!

Lets start with easily the most revamped monsters in the series, Rathalos and Rathian! In the 3rd Generation, they received a dramatic overhaul from their 1st - 2nd Generation incarnations and oh boy what an update! Now the Raths are more like real life animals instead of stiff robots. They hover above hunters now, expanding on all their previous attacks, including truly showing off Rathalos's flying capabilities. I wonder if the Raths could get another incarnation or revamp in the future?

Wow, Diablos has went through its own share of changes in the Monster Hunter series! Not only was its appearance changed, but its …

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the Four Heavenly Kings, the Fated Four!

Let us start off with the coolest one, Astalos! This is one savage wyvern that won't let prey escape very easily, unless it is dead. Even if a monster isn't bothering Astalos, it will sometimes go berserk and try to murder it. Heck, it will even eat its own babies!

The beast that could easily outclass Tigrex as an adult! She is one titan that you don't want to anger, especially if a baby is involved! No matter what the foe, Gammoth is known to defeat most foes in a single stomp!

This is one monster that was once tied with Astalos until Blue Thunder Lord Astalos came out of nowhere! Though Mizutsune isn't my #1 favorite of the Fated Fou…

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the monsters with a secondary Rage Mode!

Lets start with Amatsu! Oh boy, we thought the first Rage Mode was scary and then suddenly it gets angrier! The storm around us gets stronger and begins to engulf us in fear. If that wasn't bad enough, Amatsu also gains some annoying new attacks in this Rage Mode, including a deadly water beam with a damn aftershock! Scary yet awesome!

This Tigrex has some serious rage issues... Molten Tigrex has traditional Rage Mode of a Tigrex, but it has another that goes well beyond it! In this secondary Rage Mode, called the Detonation State by the Guild, more blood vessels become visible on its body and its begins to move insanely quick! Not onl…

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at a memorable mechanic for the 3rd Generation, Underwater!

Now this is one mechanic that made Monster Hunter's future changes so special! This game introduced an idea that not only expanded on the possibilities in battle, but also brought in new ideas that once seemed impossible in the past. Hunters could now go underwater and face off against giant aquatic monsters. That is just so fucking amazing! Though underwater is gone, maybe it could make a return one day.

Okay... I can agree with some people about the weapons feeling odd, or just plain bad, underwater. Keep in mind, I never used the Bow or Bowguns underwater, but I have tried the other weapons in this new element. Let …

Hello, and welcome to the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the Subspecies of the Flagship Monsters!

Lets start off the first Subspecies of a Flagship Monster, Azure Rathalos! Now back in the day for the first generation, Azure Rathalos was basically a stronger Rathalos that flies a bit more, but then the third and fourth generation came along... Dear god, Azure Rathalos became a demon in those games! Oh yeah, he is a genetic mutation!

Oh, I remember the reaction people had when Brute Tigrex was first revealed! Most people were super excited that Tigrex had finally got a Subspecies, while others just screamed in pure terror. You know what, I love Brute Tigrex! It is just such a badass monster with all of its roars and stomping around…

Hello and welcome to back the Discussion of the Week!

This week we look at the Lance's superior cousin, the Gunlance!

Gunlances (ガンランス Ganransu), also known as GL, are long, piercing weapons with a mechanism inside which can fire an explosive round. This is called Shelling. Unlike Bowguns, the Gunlance cannot fire over distances. The Shelling ability can only be used from close range and reduces the weapon's sharpness with each use. The use of the weapon is largely similar to the original Lance. Unlike ranged weapons, Gunlances come with preset, unlimited ammo. They are able to charge up, indicated by the radiating energy at the tip of the lance, and dish out a strong explosive attack referred to as Wyvern's Fire.

This is the generation where the…

Then, suddenly, it was announced that there would be Nintendo Direct for Monster Hunter! We were all so hyped the moment, we saw this!
