The Blangonga is a Pelagus classed monster that inhabits the Snowy Mountains. As the alpha-male of the pack, the Blangonga is twice as large as the average Blango with a much more aggressive appearance. Its strong, muscled limbs allow it run and leap at a startling speed, and its powerful roar can catch hunters unawares without adequate hearing protection. By calling out to its pack, the Blangonga can summon Blangos to fight beside it in battle. Its deadly speed can bewilder the novice hunter, as he tends to perform a dive that can send him rolling into his foes and deal out massive damage. Blangonga can break ice at his feet and hurl it at hunters to inflict a snowman status, or break it into ice shrapnel that can send his foes flying. Battle Fire elemental weapons work best against the Blangonga and can be used to break off his large canines. Unlike most monsters, by grooming its fur the Blangonga can wipe of any Paintballs used to mark it, although luckily he tends to stick around the mountain tops and retreat back to the caves to recover.
[edit] Trivia
- Breaking its fangs with Fire Weapons causes its Roar to become ineffective to "Earplugs-less" hunters.
- After the fangs are broken, his roars will no longer summon Blangos.
- Also note that the Blangos the Blangonga summons will be different to normal Blangos. They are slightly paler in appearance, will puff white smoke from their mouths and can throw blocks of ice at the hunters. The ice-blocks share the same shape but much smaller than the Blangonga's blocks.
- To make Blangonga drop a shiny, be in the same area with the Blangonga, but not spotted. Wait for it to leave, and when it does, it will drop a shiny first. The item is "Territorial Dung" (Congala does this to). This suggests that Blangonga marks the area with its dung, thinking it's in its territory. This also works in MHFU.
- If you had trouble fighting with Blangonga with its annoying, summoned Blangos, there is a way to get rid of them without unsheathing your weapon. Just exit the area and go back immediately. You'll see Blangonga alone.
