Black Gravios are known to inhabit in Swamps and Volcanoes, where caves and ore deposits are easy to find. The extreme difference in local temperature, with the swamp so cold and damp when compared to the volcano, means that Black Gravios is not dependent on extreme heat.
Like its grey counterpart, the Black Gravios is a highly specialized mineral eater, particularly Firecell Stones. Because of this it really has no competition in its niche. It still is extremely territorial, and may do battle even with the equally massive but much more aggressive Akantor. With this information its only known natural predator is the Akantor.
Black Gravios skin has allowed them to withstand the incredible heat of the magma they swim in. A Black Gravios thick shell is so tough, even white sharpness weapons cannot pierce it, especially around the legs and neck. Their tail is thick and club-like, easily knocking lesser creatures and hunters out of the beast's way. Black Gravios retains the creatures shovel-like face, used to assist the creature in consuming large quantities of volcanic ores. Black Gravios have dark red pores all over their bodies that will vent a red hot gas especially after using its lava beam repeatedly. It releases red gas more often than knockout gas due to the highly combustible materials left on its pores. Black Gravios can retreat into the lava even if its underbelly shell has been broken, it may harm the Black Gravios minorly as it loses most of its heat ressistance. Black Gravios is beleived to be the result of a Basarios over heated with excess heat so far that even the skeleton has turned a burnt black, as such it must vent its heat often.
Far more aggressive than its grey counterpart, the Black Gravios will attack on sight, starting with either a fire beam or a charge attack. The Black Gravios will tail swipe less and use volcanic gas more often than a standard Gravios, making it more of a threat to hunters attacking its underbelly. Black Gravios is also far more liberal in it use of fire beams, and will only on rare occasions use its bite attack.
