Berserk Tetsucabra Topics:

Berserk Tetsucabra are a Subspecies of Tetsucabra introduced in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

MH4U-Berserk Tetsucabra Render 001

Physiology

Berserk Tetsucabra has a dark green body with a grey tail and brown tusks due to the soot and gas from the explosions caused by explosive rocks. The monster's face will also become orange from each explosion as well.

Abilities

While the attacks displayed so far look similar enough to the normal Tetsucabras; this subspecies is clearly more violent and destructive. They are able to easily crush explosive rocks with their jaws to create a wide-radius explosion.

Habitat

Berserk Tetsucabra can be found in the Sunken Hollow, Everwood and Volcanic Hollow.

Etymology

During the localization process, the translation team struggled to come up with an English term which had a similar meaning to the Japanese word "aragoto", which refers to the exaggerated Kabuki acting style wherein actors behave loudly and erratically. Eventually, they decided on "Berserk", as it was an adjective which was easy to understand and properly summarized the monster's wild, no-holds-barred fighting style.

In-Game Description

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
MH4U-Berserk Tetsucabra Icon An amphibious monster known for its distinctive markings resembling a painted face. These beasts dig up and hurl boulders in the same way as a standard Tetsucabra does, but the stones thrown by this Berserk variety explode upon impact.

Notes

  • Its tusks, back and each hind leg can be broken.
  • When Berserk Tetsucabra's tusks are broken, its face becomes much weaker and it is only able to pick up smaller boulders.
  • Berserk Tetsucabra uses explosive rocks to attack the hunter, giving it more range in its attacks.
  • When enraged, the large boulders that Berserk Tetsucabra picks up will be able to roll until they explode after a small period of time or hit a wall.
    • It can also do this attack twice consecutively.
  • If hunters are able to make Berserk Tetsucabra flinch while it's holding or picking up a boulder, it will drop a shiny.
  • If Berserk Tetsucabra holds an explosive rock in its mouth for too long without crushing it, the rock will explode in its mouth.
  • Berserk Tetsucabra's roar requires Earplugs to block.

  • During the localization process, candidates for Berserk Tetsucabra's English name included "Chambara Tetsucabra" and "Magmacabra". The latter is notable for breaking the established naming convention of subspecies by creating an all-new name, rather than the original monster's name preceded by an adjective.
