Battle of the Blos

From Monster Hunter Wiki

This level 4 quest reauires you to hunt a Monoblos in the desert at night time, be sure to bring hot drinks!

The easiest way to kill a Monoblos is with a GS, almost ridiculous how easy it is. You should be able to get your hands on Ravager Blade+ by then, its one of the best GS available at that time high attack power and good sharpness. try to get Blango armor, you shouldn't have much trouble getting the materials at that time unless your having trouble with the Blangonga.

People tend to get frustrated when fighting him, as it can take a while due to his high LP, patience is the key, don't run in head first, you'll end up dead faster then you might think.

Anyways, I don't recommend short range weapons, he's very tall so you'll have trouble hitting him anywhere else then the legs. A weapon with guard ability comes in handy too, his charge is homing, even from only medium distance, and almost impossible to avoid. When fighting Monoblos you should always cut off the tail first, it gives you 2 extra carves, and you wont get hit as easily.

When attacking him, don't rush in from behind, he might use his tail whip, damage is not crucial, but you'll have trouble avoiding his next attack. Also try to get him stuck in walls, if he charges into a wall, hell be stuck for about 5 to 10 seconds and giving you a chance for free hits.

When the tail is cut off, go for the head, its his weak spot and you have a good chance to break his horn which is one of the few ways to get Blood Red Horn, which is necessary for a surprising amount of weaponry and armory. This strategy works for all the monsters of the blos family (Monoblos, Wht. Monoblos, Diablos, Blck. Diablos).

Will limp when weak enough to capture.
