The Azure Lao-Shan Lung is a subspecies of the Lao-Shan Lung. It is essentially the same creature, only possessing a different coloring and increased health. They typically migrate from volcanic areas in the time of season where the temperature becomes too hot to handle. The gray appearance of their massive scales are due to life long exposure to the ashes from volcanic eruptions. In Monster Hunter Freedom 2, you must repel it to get to Hunter Rank 5.

[edit] Weakness

  • The Azure Lao-Shan Lung shares the same weaknesses as the regular Lao-Shan Lung. For Blademasters, the weakest point that can be reached is the monster's belly.
  • Gunners can reach Lao's other weak spot: his back. It's the same place where Anti-Dragon bombs should be placed and can be carved 3 times.
  • This 'Achilles heel' can be normally reached on Areas 2, 3 and 4 of the map, by literally jumping on the back of the monster from one of the bridges.
  • A hammer with a high amount of raw damage, such as Diablos Chaos Broker or Onslaught Hammer, are the most efficient weapons to kill the Azure Lao-Shan Lung. Otherwise, use Dragon-element Dual Blades like Eternal Schisms.
  • Another common strategy is using Akantor Bow (MHF2) combined with the armor skills Adrenaline +2 and Felyne Heroics. When the hunter's health is depleted to under 10 HP using barrel bombs, the hunter's attack should be ~600. Using the LVL 2 charge, the hunter can spam Pierce LVL 3 and effectively break everything "breakable" on Lao to farm Lao Shan Rubies in MHF2.

[edit] Trivia

  • Having Grey-coloured scales, it's possible that polishing it's scale will show it's azure color.
  • Actually, due to it's Grey appearance it is mistranslated as Ashen Lao-Shan Lung (Referring to the ashes from the volcanic habitat that discolored the red scales of the regular Lao-Shan Lung) instead of the actual translation Azure Lao-Shan Lung (Obviously referring the azure color on it's weapons and armors)
