| Snowy Mountains | The Snowy Mountains region has bottom hillslopes, cold caves, and a cold mountain that has freezing temperatures. It has an abundance of Mountain Herbs and Ice Crystals. Kokoto Jungle | The Jungle region has a landscape with an ancient society, surrounded by a plethora of jungle trees. There is a link of caves here, along with a beautiful waterfall. Great region to find mushrooms and plants. Monsters such as Plesioth, Iodrome, Gypceros, Yian Kut-Ku, Kirin, and Rathian reside here. | 1st | |
| Jungle | The other Jungle region is an island surrounded by sandy beaches and damp caverns. It doesn't have nearly as many trees as the 1st generation Jungle, which makes the visibility clearer. Monsters such as Daimyo Hermitaur, Gypceros, Congalala and Velocidrome can be found here. | 2nd | |
| Great Forest | The Deep Forest region is a forest largely covered by a canopy of trees. It has a small Shakalaka civilization, and is a great place for fishing and finding plant life. Monsters that live in this habitat are Nargacuga, Espinas, and Hypnocatrice. | 3rd | |

Kokoto Swamp | In this Swamp, it is a very dark blue in some areas, while in other areas, it is always covered with stagnant water lotus-like plant life. Crystals can be found in the crystal bed on the walls of a cavern. Monsters that dwells in this unforgiving habitat are: Gypceros, Gendrome, Rathian, Khezu, Basarios, Red Shogun Ceanataur. Gold Rathian and the Silver Rathalos can be fought here at the same time as well! | 1st | |
| Swamp | The Swamp region is a soggy and damp place, dead trees and stagnant creeks dot this region. There is also a sizable underground cavern beneath the bleak surface. At night some purple patches of ground appear and are poisonous to walk on. Offers an abundance of Mushrooms. No Honey. | 2nd | |
| Kokoto Desert | Splits up between two areas, the sand bed and the oasis. The Heat in this habitat is extreme and unbearly hot. The cavern in this habitat has always been inhabited by Plesioth. Monsters that dwell in this desert are: Cephadrome, Gendrome, Rathian, Monoblos, Diablos,Daimyo Hermitaur, Plum Daimyo Hermitaur, Tigrex, Teostra, Copper Blangonga | 1st | |
| Desert | The Desert region is the most extreme when it comes to climate. During nights, the Desert is freezing cold, while during days the Desert is unbearably hot. This region consists of a large desert and rocky canyon, as well as a very cold underground cavern. A river winds through the canyon portion of the region. Offers an abundance of Plants and Mining Points. No Honey. Monsters residing here are: Gendrome, Cephadrome, Daimyo Hermitaur, Monoblos, Diablos, Plesioth, Copper Blangonga. | 2nd | |

Kokoto Volcano | A craggy volcano that is extremely hazardous and unforgiving. In the inner volcano it is very hot; cool drinks are advised to be used at all times when venturing deeper into the volcano. Monsters that dwells in this volcano are: Basarios, Iodrome, Gravios, Rajang, Red Shogun Ceanataur. | 1st | |
| Volcano | The Volcano region can be extremely hazardous, especially during an eruption. Walking near any of the molten rivers that pass through this region is not recommended unless you are properly equipped. Almost the entire Region is too hot for unprepared Hunters to deal with. Offers an abundance of Mining Points. No Mushrooms, Honey or Fish. Almost no Bugs to catch. In MHP2ndG areas 9 and 10 were added to this region. Monsters: Gravios, Black Gravios, Basarios, Rathalos, Shogun Ceanataur. It is rumored that Akantor resides there but this has not been confirmed yet. | 2nd | |
| Tower |
The Tower region is split up into two regions. This makes this region the most unique in the game. The "outdoors" region is very small with two areas. The "indoors" region is very large and features a linear path to the top of the Tower. Monsters that dwells here are: Lunastra, Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, White Fatalis and Yamatsukami (MH2) | 2nd | |
| Tower 2 (MH2) | N/A | The Tower 2 is the same region as Tower 1 but the indoor region is different. It´s a small arena for battle and a lot of mining and gathering spots. Often played as a host for Kirin quests in MH2 offline/Online and later, Yamatsukami quests in 2ndG atop of the final area in this habitat. It´s in both MH2 and MHP2ndG. | 2nd |
| Tower 3 (MH2 and MHP2ndG) | The Tower 3 is a two area region found in MHP2ndG, the first area looks like any other area inside the tower, but to get to the next area you must jump down a large cliff into the clouds. You'll appear at a huge arena-like place. This area is found during the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos Missions that the village cat assigns you. | 2nd |

| Arena | A region found in the vast canyon that uses the Great Arena background up to now. It is not present in Monster Hunter Freedom 2, but only as downloadable content. | |
| Battleground | A region with only two areas that uses the old Volcano background and still exists in MHF2. Often Played as a host for Akantor and Crimson Fatalis quests | |
| Castle Schrade | Castle Schrade is known as the Grayburg Castle. It is a very dimly lit region with defenses and traps that litter the battlements to aid the hunter in slaying the Fatalis that resides there. Only Fatalis lives here but this has not yet been confirmed. | |
| Fortress | Also known as the Fort. It is a huge canyon that leads to the fort protecting a town or village, where you must repel or slay Lao-Shan Lung and Shen Gaoren. | |
| Great Arena | A region found in the vast region that is used for many monster training sessions in the Training School. | |
| Town | A fortified town stocked with weapons such as Cannon-S and Balista-S, often playing host to Shen Gaoren and Elder dragons. In MH2 and MH Frontier, Yamatsukami quests are hosted in this area. |
