Help - MH Wiki Chat Room
From Monster Hunter Wiki
The MH Wiki uses the chat room service called Mibbit, an Ajax (Ajax means there is no need to refresh to see incoming messages) based web chat client, currently supporting the IRC protocol. It is a simple approach to IRC that runs right in your browser without the need of a special client. For any newbie IRC users, this is a great way to get your foot in the door. This article attempts to make being on the Mibbit Chat as easy as possible with these lists of commands.

[edit] A Thing Or Two With [Un]Banning
In order to ban someone, you must be an OP (which is only natural), and you must WHOIS the person you want to ban beforehand. After whoising the person, you must click on their nick, and there should be 3 new extra commands than the usual when you're not an OP. In order to ban them properly, you must click on the ban ABOVE the ignore command (which should be the person's HOSTNAME from the whois and it should look something like *@mib-numbers and alphabets here), this is to ensure that it's a permanent ban, and any other method of banning will NOT do, and you should NEVER click on Ban Mibbt@*, it has been tested that if you DO click on in by accident, it will conviniently ban the ENTIRE channel. If you accidently click on Ban Mibbit@*, there's still a chance to save the chat from permanent ban, and that's for you to type /unban Mibbit@* BEFORE leaving the channel. Unbanning someone is also the same, and that's to type /unban *@the person's hostname in their whois.
Those using alternative IRC clients, or simply prefer typing, the commands for banning and unbanning are used as followed:
/[un]ban nickname!username@hostmask
Remove brackets for unban, remove [un] for ban. Where it says nickname, it is the targeted person's current IRC nickname, i.e. ChatUser1, ChatUser2. Where it says username, it is the targeted person's WHOIS, in front of the @ and after the !. Most mibbit users have an i=[somecode] username. Those using Chatzilla commonly have a n=chatzill username. Where it says hostmask, it is the targeted person's hostmask, following the @ symbol. This is usually a pointless ban when the person is using mibbit.
To correctly ban or unban someone, most resort to the use of the username. To do so properly, where you omit the nickname and hostmask, replace them with an asterisk *. An example is:
/[un]ban *!username@*
Please be sure to type it out properly, as typing simply *!*@* will ban the entire channel.
